Maia

I woke up to my mom's calling.

"Maia, there's a boy waiting for you!" She exclaimed from the back door.

A boy? Must be Cade.

I wore my morning shoes and rushed downstairs.

My mom looked at me and glanced at the door, and to my disappointment it wasn't Cade, it was Jack.

"I'll leave you two to talk." My mom said and made her way to the kitchen.

"Jack, what do you want?"

"I need to talk to you. Mind if I come in?" He asked.

Normally I would've let him in but his red, bloodshot eyes gave me chills.

"No, you can't go in. Say whatever you want out here." I said as I shut the door behind me and we stood on the porch.

"Fine whatever. You've been spreading rumours about me little missy." He hissed.

'Not again with this' I thought.

"Look for the last time, I haven't said a single word about you. And you're a jerk for cheating on Ali." I hissed back.

"Yeah yeah too bad she'll never believe you." He said.

"So it is true." I said, even though I already knew.
"You're a jackass, leave my home and don't come back." I said.

I turned to go back inside but he grabbed my wrist and twisted it.

"Ouch! Let go of me you bastard. You're hurting me." I screamed and pushed him.

"You'll regret this you little whore." He threatened.

I seriously felt my heart beating. Jack had been unsteady for quite a while now. And him threatening me to my face made me feel a little scared. I walked back in to the house as he left.

"Why was Jack here?" Mom asked.

"Same reason as usual, asking about Alisa." I lied... again. I feel like lately I've been lying to my mom a lot... this needs to change.

"Oh okay. Why are you walking funny?" She asked.

Oh snap. I totally forgot about last night. My middle section felt like a hurricane had just occurred in it. It was a little uncomfortable.
But I don't want to keep lying to my mother so I guess I'll have to be honest.

"I lost my virginity mom." I said looking straight into her eyes.

"Ohh baby, are you alright? When did this happen? Did you use protection? And who's the guy?" She asked moving closer to me and putting her hand on my cheeks.

"I'm alright mom." I said with a smile.
"That's all I can tell you for now. I hope you understand." I told her.

"Okay honey, I'm just glad you can open up to me, ever since your father left it's been really hard to... you know." She began.

I don't know why she had to ruin the moment like this. She knows very well I don't like talking about my father. I hate him. Very much. For abandoning us. And I know she does too.

"Uh I have to go shower." I dodged her and went upstairs.

I know she knows why I didn't answer her.

After taking a bath, I received a text message from Cade.

'Hey I forgot to ask you what your favourite ice cream is, so let's go for ice cream today😊'

I smiled after reading the message. I guess Cade was taking this whole thing seriously.

I replied, 'Okay, come get me in 10'

He came on foot and knocked on the front door.
I opened it for him and told my mom I'd be back later.

"So..." He began.

"So?"

"Let's go get some ice cream." He said.

"You seem nervous. Which is ironic cause in the one who's supposed to." I joked.

"Well true. But I've never been with someone that gives me this strange feeling in my tummy."

"Butterflies?" I laughed.

He nodded in agreement. We strolled to the ice cream cart.

"I'll have a strawberry and you Maia?"

"I'll have a chocolate." I said.

We got our ice cream and walked to a small bench in the park.
We sat beside each other and Cade was saying something. But I just couldn't focus. The way his pink lips moved while he licked his ice cream took my thoughts on a wild journey to dream land. I started thinking about how his tongue had been to certain places on me the other night.

"Maia, are you even listening?" He asked.

"No, sorry. I got distracted. See you distract me but I'm distracted without you. I don't know how to focus... teach me how." I said.

"Aww come here." He said gesturing for me to sit on his laps.

"Cade if you ever catch me staring at your lips, just kiss me."

He didn't waste time.

Our lips met.
Our tongues fell madly in love, got married and moved to Paris. Haha.

His lips against my cheek, brushing it lightly-and still that light touch sent shivers through my nerves, shivers that made my whole body tremble.

"If you want me to stop, tell me now," He whispered.

I said nothing, he brushed his mouth against the hollow of my temple.

"Or now."He traced the line of my cheekbone. "Or now." His lips were against hers.
"Or-"

But I had reached up and pulled him down to me and the rest of his words were lost against my mouth.
He kissed me gently, carefully, but it wasn't gentleness I wanted, not now, not after all this time, and I knotted my fists in his shirt, pulling him harder against me.
He groaned softly, low in his throat, and then his arms circled me, gathering me against him, and we rolled over on the grass, tangled together, still kissing.

Lightning.
Once it has forked, hot-white, from sky to earth, there is no going back. It's time. I feel it, I know it. My eyes on him, his on me, and both of us breathing, watching, tired of of waiting. Cade closes his eyes, but mine are still open. What will it feel like, his lips on mine? Like a secret told, a promise kept? Oh it's a mutual feeling now. Like that line in the poem- a shower of all my days- silvery rain falling all around me, where the lighting meets the earth?

Now this is my perfect definition of perfection.
