WHEN DADDY LEFT

Ten hours

Anthony's POV

"You scared me to death Y'vania."
"Why? Where am I?"
"On my bed."
I say jokingly.
"Enough with the cheesiness Anthony."
"As you wish ma lady..okay you're in a hospital. Glad now?"
She nods sitting upright and gives me a light kiss on my lips.

In case you're wondering Y'vania and I are a couple now. Unbelievable ain't it?

She stares around for some time her expression turning to sadness.

"I don't know where this is going to."
She says quietly staring at the IV tube. Wondering what is happening.

"I can't believe am living with this for the rest of my life."

"Don't give up Brownie kid we're doing our best."

She smiles and stares around her for a while.
"For how long was I out? I feel so nauseous..like am floating on something."
"About ten hours. That's normal it's the effect of the conditioning therapy and oh should I call your sister? she's been waiting for you."
"Conditioning therapy? You already went to the third phase of the treatment?"
She asks trying to sit up but fails. She's so weak. I fluff the pillow for her to make her comfortable.
"It was crucial for us to do so seeing that your condition was getting worse and we already did the initial evaluation, did a stem cell collection and a donor search."
"Who is the donor? We don't even have all the money for the treatment."

"My dad authorized it. Mia had half the money and because you might be his future daughter in law he allowed it to go on."
"Thank you so much. We still have a long process of this treatment. We are going to find the rest of the money."

"You don't have to worry about the money babe. Oh the donor was Nisha."
"What? Wow. Okay. I am so grateful um..who brought me here?"

"Jake,Matthew,Lilly, Nisha and some other girl I didn't recognize."

"That's Essie Jake's girlfriend. How is Nisha?"

She asks quietly as if talking to herself.

"Oh that's cool about Jake and his girlfriend. Nisha is recovering. She will be okay by tomorrow evening or the day after. Just fatigue and lower back soreness. Nothing serious. Oh let me call Mia."

She nods and goes back to lying on the bed.
I feel relieved. I don't know if it's the fact that Jake has a girlfriend and there's nothing more than friendship between him and Y'vania or the fact that Y'vania survived the first phase of the bone marrow transplant despite her condition being one of the rare ones where survival chances are minimal. She still seems so weak and fragile and the side effects will also kick in but I can't help feeling relieved when she opened her eyes and smiled at me. When she kissed me without fear or doubt.

As soon as her sister sees me she stands up and comes towards me the worried look still on her face.

"She's okay the transplant went successful she's awake you can see her but she's still on the effects of the chemotherapy. Just five minutes and let her rest. I hope you reached your mother's phone."
"Yes she's on her way thank you so much doctor."

Y'vania's POV

Everything seems to be floating around the room. I try stretching my arm to reach the lady standing by my side but whatever drug is in this IV line is really strong.
Ten hours.
It seemed like a whole year.
What I remember is me being around Matt and I think it was Lilly then I saw darkness, a sharp pain hit my chest then I couldn't breathe.
It suddenly starts to feel like someone is taking me away from the bed then I feel a prick of injections like..like..I am experiencing some kind of déjà vu.
