Kyle's POV
"Come on, you don't even like coffee. I thought we would be enjoying stuff that you like." Right when David came over I immediately asked him if he was thirsty. He said 'yeah', probably assuming we would be making Italian sodas like we regularly do. Instead I pushed him right back outside so we could start the short walk to the coffee shop. "Aww, you shouldn't have. It's nice that you're going to treat me to coffee when you can't even stand the stuff." All of that was said sarcastically of course. That type of conversation is David's specialty.
"Well I like Tweek and he's there." I know today was specifically set aside for David but why not squeeze in some extra Tweek time on the side. It's too hard to resist. How mad could David be really?
"WHAT?! TWEEK WILL BE THERE? I WOULD HAVE NEVER PUT THAT TOGETHER." David teased me with a mock serious tone. I had the biggest urge to smack him. Not the right time though. We were almost at the coffee shop and I didn't want to risk making David mad. He could say something embarrassing while we're relaxing with our drinks. I did not want to 'poke the bear'.
"Hopefully someday we can all hang out together. That's what I told Tweek. Both of you guys are really important to me." All of the words came out so fast. I totally meant all of them. It was surprising how easy it was to admit to David how much Tweek really meant to me.
"Dang Kyle, I've known you for years and you've never told me how important I am to you. You meet Tweek out of nowhere and he's all ready up to my status of importance. Weak dude." His words sounded sincere but it was obvious he was being sarcastic with the chuckle that followed soon after. Him holding his hand over his heart was a nice touch though. As if I would feel sorry about slightly enjoying Tweek's company over his.
I walked into the coffee shop, my eyes darting across the entire room looking for a certain blonde. Only to find out a taller blonde was looking at me with strange features. David and I sat in a booth waiting for any type of service. Myself secretly hoping to see Tweek soon. Kenny came right over.
"David? You're buddy-buddy with this guy?" He didn't even look my way. The only way David knew he was referring to me was by his weak hand gesture to the other side of the booth. By his body language it was pretty obvious that he was only interested in carrying on a conversation with his school 'chum' David. His loss. I did eventually make eye contact with Tweek who was nervously waiting behind the counter. Kenny must be making him hesitant to come over to the table. It was obvious that he was waiting for Kenny to leave.
"Oh yeah, Kyle and I go way back." David glanced at me quickly with a sneaky smile. "Not as far back as your crew though" He whispered quietly enough that Kenny didn't catch what he said. Kenny had a loud expression on his face that read 'huh'. The urge to smack David came up again. I acted on those instincts with a swift kick to his shins underneath the table. David kept his composure and Kenny didn't notice a thing. David must have known that he had it coming and wasn't going to bring any extra attention to the situation.
"Ok, that's cool, I guess. Well I have to jet. Butters ended up getting grounded again so I have to meet him at his house." David and I looked up at Kenny with clear confusion. Kenny caught on to our obvious oblivion to the whole scenario. "Oh right, like you guys don't know how easily Butters gets in trouble for the most dumb reasons?" Our expressions remained the same. Like how were we supposed to know that Butters gets grounded all the time. It felt like we were out of the loop of some inside joke about how often Butters gets in trouble. Kenny shuffled away muttering 'whatever' and bringing his phone out. I was assuming most likely to text Butters.
Tweek came over with a grumpy look on his face. The tables had turned. It looked like Tweek wanted to smack me now. "K-Kyle! What are y-you d-doing h-here?" Oh man, I've never heard him stutter that much in a small sentence. David was looking at Tweek with amusement. Tweek took notice of David with a shy nod and hand wave. The words "hey David" slipped out of his mouth. No one else was buying or drinking coffee. Tweek's parents were no where in sight. I took my chances and brought Tweek down by grabbing the top part of his apron. I snuck a quick peck on his lips without anyone being around to take notice, besides David. Tweek's all ready miffed at me for showing up here, how mad could he possible get? Apparently mad enough to flick my forehead with his fingers. It didn't hurt but I was really surprised he did something so childish. "K-Kyle! You c-can't do th-that!"
It was at that exact moment of Tweek hitting me with a dumfounded look on my face David let out all of the laughter he had been holding in. "Sorry, I have never heard you stutter. It's hilarious!" Tweek was scowling with his arms crossed. He was glaring daggers at David. I knew what was coming next. *THWAP* Just like I pictured, he had smacked David's arm. Tweek wasn't used to his sarcasm. David didn't looked phased by the hit. He kept on laughing. "What? In a good way, Kyle told me you only stutter when you're nervous or like someone. I'm pretty sure that I'm not making you nervous. You obviously like him just as much as he likes you."
"It's true you know." Tweek snapped his head my way. "I'm constantly telling David how lucky I am to have the cutest boy in South Park acknowledge me when almost everyone else sees me as a cocky jock." I reached for his hand but stopped myself because his dad had just entered the main area from the back storage room. Good timing on his part. Tweek could have flipped out again for my public display of affection.
He looked confused from my sudden hand movement. I pointed behind him so he could realize his dad was in the same room. Tweek brought out his little notepad that's meant for taking orders. He had all of his focus on David. "You've been waiting long enough, sorry for the delay. What would you like to order today?" David mouthed the word 'wow' towards me with a sneaky smile. I tossed a menu to him. This whole time he hadn't even glanced at all the drink options. Nosy much?
