Kyle's POV
After a flustered Tweek was whisked away to my car fully dressed ready to go to prom, we made our first stop to Adventure Land. Tweek was speechless. Most likely because we were way overdressed. It's not like it was too much of a surprise that we didn't go straight to my school, it was still pretty early in the afternoon. Prom doesn't officially start until 8:00. This time however there was more to do than mini golf. The bumper cars, batting cages, and arcade games were up and running. My personal favorite was the batting cages. I got to show off more of my hitting skills without breaking a sweat I might add. I had to beg Tweek to try a few pitches but he kept insisting that didn't have a single athletic bone in his body. I found this hard to believe with sports being the main thing outside of school that is done in his town. Seriously though, how did I mange to be smitten by the first guy I met who had no interest in sports whatsoever? We were running behind schedule so there wasn't any spare time to play mini golf. That didn't stop me from dragging Tweek to the first hole to recreate our first kiss. Tweek was a little self-conscious though because there was a small family all ready occupying the space. He gained his confidence back quickly though. Just as I was ready to pull away from the kiss he gripped on to my shoulders to keep me in my place. The family didn't give our silly actions must thought. Anything must make sense if there's fancy suits and teenagers involved on prom night.
Next stop was dinner at Johnny Carino's. (This is pretty much a fancier version of an Olive Garden.) Got to load up on their free bread, am I right? When it came time to order the same pattern kept occurring with Tweek and myself. He went with the more traditional and simple choice of their sixteen layer lasagna where as I ordered the seafood alfredo. There was numerous couples from my school dressed ready to walk the red carpet. In my eyes none of them had nothing on Tweek, he looked the best hands down. It was surprising that everyone that walked by our table waved eagerly to Tweek. Totally disregarding me, the kid who attends classes with these people. Tweek would wave back cautiously, not realizing that this was bugging me immensely. This was only a glimpse of everyone's actions towards my boyfriend.
******
It got more obvious when we parked outside the entrance of the gymnasium. That's where most of our school functions are held. This one would be heavily chaperoned with my mother included. She insisted on being Tweek's ride home after the dance. I was getting the idea that she was willing to jump at any moment that she got to spend one on one time with my boyfriend. At least my mom was nice enough to give me the honor of taking him here myself. Everyone else at this school must be drinking the same water my mom is because we couldn't walk three feet without a completely different person once again greeting Tweek and giving no mind to my presence. With each person that paid attention to Tweek, the closer I got to him. What started out as hand holding from a comfortable distance had no escalated to me walking right behind Tweek with my head right next to his and a firm grip around his waist. If this position sounds awkward that's because it was, on my part at least. I'm only a few inches taller than Tweek who looked rather comfy in his position. There's no way Tweek is that clueless about everyone ignoring me but giving him the time of day. I pulled him inside the abandoned band room to address the elephant in the room.
"Ok mister popular, did my car portal us to some alternative universe where you actually go this school and I don't exist at all?"
"What d-do you mean K-Kyle?" I didn't appreciate his tone. It was teasing and I don't enjoy getting teased by anybody, especially Tweek.
"You haven't noticed how class mates, my class mates have gone above and beyond to pay attention to you, only you and not me?"
"Oh I see! S-somebody is jealous." Now he's just testing me. Each taunt he would throw my way he would inch closer and closer in my body bubble.
"I'm not jealous.... I just don't like to share, that's all."
"I thought for s-someone who has a s-sibling you w-would be used t-to sharing?" This bit again. He jumps at any chance to make fun of how close I am with my family. "Weren't y-you the one who told me I w-was everyone's good l-luck charm? Just l-like how people r-rub Buddha's belly f-for good luck. Now Kyle, w-would you rather have y-your class chums rub m-my belly instead hmm?" Uh... no! He still has it in him to throw me a curve ball with his witty retort.
" Ok, I admit you're right. I totally spaced about everyone passing you off as a good luck charm. At this rate though I should just follow you around at your s-."
"KYLE! There you are! What're you doing getting all close and personal in Tweek's space. The poor boy looks terrified." MOM!? Aren't chaperones supposed to be at the dance, where everyone else is supposed to be? Not lurking in the hallways where couples could sneak off.... Never mind, it's justified.
"Mom, it's not what it looks like. Tweek was the one getting all up in my space not the other way around." The more I spoke, the more doubt my mom had in me. She wasn't going to believe me no matter what I say.
"Whatever you say hun, now let's mosey on over to the gym. I want to get plenty of pictures of you two boys. Oh this is so exciting my Bubbie's first prom with his adorable boyfriend and I get to be here to enjoy the night as well." My mom nudged us out of the room and we started our walk to the ticket booth which was a miscellaneous classroom that for tonight was also being used as a coat/purse check.
"You knew my mom was coming didn't you?" I hissed under my breath, out of my mom's earshot. Tweek nonchalantly grabbed my hand, intertwining our fingers and gently swaying our hands back and forth.
Placing a brief kiss on my cheek he whispers; " of course, I have to stay on your mom's good side. If that means 'looking terrified' and throwing you under the bus then so be it."
That little sneak.
My whole house just lost power from all of the windy weather and horrible rain. I had to publish these from my phone.
Also yay!! Two hundred votes!! I started writing this story at the end of April and it's crazy to see how far this story has come.
