Kenny's POV

*The end of yesterdays game*

"Seriously Tweek, out of all of the guys in Colorado you had to fall for the best player on our biggest rival team?" That must have been the straw that broke the camels back. Tweek ran away towards the parking lot as fast as his feet could carry him. Butters was calling out Tweek's name and I was still processing the fact that Tweek had moved on from Craig so fast. Kyle being the guy who Tweek ended up going out with was just suspicious. Tweek knew how Kyle rubbed everyone the wrong way. Everyone eventually dispersed to get on the school bus or catch a ride with their parents. I was following Butters to his car. Just like I do for every away game he comes to. This time felt off though, he hadn't spoken a word since he had called Tweek's name  and hadn't tried to hold my hand like he always does. He'll usually try to cheer me up after a loss which is a common occurrence when we play Kyle's team. The only sound that left his mouth was a sigh when he realized Tweek wasn't waiting by his car. "Looks like Tweek found a ride with someone else." Butters muttered something I couldn't hear. He is most likely in a grumpy mood because of Tweek's actions. Once we were out of the parking lot and driving a steady rate on the highway I called him out. "It's ok to be mad at Tweek but you don't have to take it out on me."

"You really think me not talking to you is because I'm mad at Tweek? Newsflash, Tweek isn't the person I'm mad at." Butters had been acting strange since Craig's episode with Kyle.

"Oh, so you're upset with Craig then?" More mutters came from Butters mouth. It was starting to feel like whatever words spewed out of my mouth made Butters more uptight each time.

"You don't get it. He's not the only one I'm upset with." It dawned on me, Butters had been giving me the cold shoulder since my comment to Tweek.

"What?!  You can't be implying that I'm the one you're mad at?! How could you hold a grudge against me but let Tweek off the hook?" Seriously though, he should be taking my side. I am his boyfriend after all. That didn't seem to be the case. Butters looked like he wanted to kill me in my sleep.

"Tweek didn't do anything wrong! He likes Kyle, so what? It was pretty obvious how much you disliked him and I'm ninety-nine percent sure that's why he didn't tell me in the first place. Haven't you noticed how much happier he's been these past few months? If that's Kyle's doing, I think it's fantastic. Tweek was no where near that level of happiness when he and Craig were 'going out'." Conspiracy theories had been around school that Craig and Tweek weren't actually together. Butters wasn't known to listen to these so I had to know his reasoning behind these accusations.

"Why did you sound sarcastic when you said going out? You seem to know something that I don't." He let out a big sigh.

"You honestly don't remember helping Craig hook up with other girls at parties while he and Tweek were together?"

"That's not fair!  Why would I be taking an interest in Tweek's relationship with Craig when I was always trying to hook with girls as well? You know how plastered I would get at those parties that I couldn't recall the girls I woke up next to the following morning." Great, I knew my past would come back to haunt me. I was slapping myself mentally for bringing it up in the first place. Surprisingly that's not what made Butters mad.

"See right there, that was the guy everyone would refer to when we first started going out. Do you know how much crap I got from people at school? Even my parents told me how much of an idiot I was for trying to tame the guy most notorious for flirting with anything that moves. You are looking down to Kyle the same way everyone did towards you." Silence. I didn't realize how hard that must been for Butters. I don't really care what anybody had to say about me being a huge flirt. They weren't wrong. I just hadn't found the right person yet. Turns out Butters was who I'd been waiting for. "Doesn't feel so great to be judged right away by everybody does it..." He had a point but I didn't want to accept being compared to Kyle. No matter what I still couldn't stand the guy.

"That's different. Me going out with you didn't have a big impact on our class mates. Girls were kind of peeved at first but I don't care what they think. Tweek has obviously picked a side. If he's with Kyle he doesn't care about our sports team. Kyle is the main obstacle around our team losing. It's that simple." Now is was Butters turn to remain silent. He would open his mouth like he was going to reply back but didn't say anything. I was slowly getting used to the awkward silence in his car. This went on for ten minutes until Butters managed to put the words together he was desperately trying to find.

"If that's how you really feel...  I need to distance myself away from you until you change your mind."

"Leo, are you breaking up with me?"

"......." Dang Butters, back at it again with the silence. For someone who's known to be a chatter box, all of this silence was out of character. "No, that would be the easy thing to do. I still have some faith that you might change your mind. Right now I need to be there for Tweek and I don't want your negative attitude towards Kyle bringing him down. The whole school is most likely going to be against him and..." Butters voice had cracked. This is the worst I've ever seen him and he was having a difficult time finishing his sentence. Between the tears and squeaky voice he looked and sounded horrible. "the thought of you joining them really breaks my heart Kenny." I still can't believe I'm being set up as the bad guy here. Butters has a bad habit of always looking for the best in any person. This was no exception.

"Leo, if it was anyone else this wouldn't be a problem. Why can't you see that? Why are you siding with Tweek over me?" I looked away from Butters to find that he had been parked in front of my house. When I turned back to Butters I got a good glimpse of his drastic features. Puffy eyes and red face. He had a death grip on his steering wheel. "Leo I'm not leaving this car until you answer me." This time he was quick with his reply. I think at this point he was desperate to get me out of his car.

"He's my best friend Kenny. I'm going to stick by him no matter what. Tomorrow I will be trying my darndest to make sure nobody gives him a hard time. Judging by the way you're acting, I will have my work cut out for me." The next thing I heard was the un-locking sound of my door. That must have been his passive aggressive way of telling me to get out of his car. I got the memo and left without another word between the two of us.

Looks like I'll be taking the bus tomorrow...
