Kyle's POV
I chuckled as I sent Tweek my text. Which I'm sure he enjoyed. The first warning bell rang and I made my way to the most familiar place at this school, (besides the lockers and football field) the main office. For the first couple weeks of school I will be spending the allotted time that's meant for running start as an office T.A. Not my first idea but running start doesn't start for another couple weeks and this was my moms idea to use my temporary free time. As I walked I re-introduced myself to the two office ladies and reminded that I'm here to help if needed. They both seemed relieved and showed me what they wanted me to do. It was pretty much alphabetizing all of the forms that all of the students signed during orientation. I had grown accustomed to the nonstop phones ringing but this particular conversation was more dire than all of the others. All I understood was 'send them both down to the office' before she hung up. I didn't know it was too forward to ask what was going on so I just kept my mouth shut and waited for the troublemakers to show up. Whoever manages to get in trouble within the first hour is a true idiot.
A few minutes later I glanced up at the glass window that shows the hallway. Noticing Craig and his brother? shuffling down the hall and just about ready to enter the office. The guy looked just like him with the same shade of hair and body type. After I got a good look at the other dark haired teen it was abundantly clear that Craig had got a few good hits on this poor guy. I don't want to give Craig any ammunition to pick a fight with me so I kept my nose down and put all of my focus on the many different forms in front of me. Which didn't help much when one of the secretaries asked me to get an icepack for the other guy, who turned out to have the name Stan. Once Craig realized I was sharing the same air that he breathes he attempted to make his way over to me with anger in his eyes. Luckily the principal beckoned Craig to his office before he got himself into more trouble. Once the door to his office is closed I let out a breath I didn't realize I was holding in. I totally forgot that I was supposed to grab an icepack so I made my way to the staff lounge to grab one out of the freezer.
"Sorry to keep you waiting.... Stan right?" He nodded as I handed him the cold icepack wrapped up in a paper towel. "My name's K-"
"Kyle." Stan interrupted me. Did one of the office ladies say my name when he first arrived? "I all ready knew your name. You're all everyone's been talking since you walked these halls this morning." I didn't respond right away so Stan just kept on rambling. "It's a small school so when a new student arrives everyone notices. Also you've been the first guy Tweek's gone out with since he detached himself from Craig." Wow, news travels fast around here.
"Wow, ok... So what does that have to do with you being here, bruised up?"
"Oh that, well everyone had been making comments about how nicely you treat Tweek and how you two are a cute couple. I was just agreeing with everyone else. All of a sudden Craig snapped and started hitting any part of my body that he could get his hands on.
"So long story short, your comment was the straw that broke the camels back."
"What does that even mean? Geez I heard you were smart but when you spew out sayings that no one understands it just makes you look pretentious dude." I held my tongue from another smart ass comment. This guy was pretty ballsy to call me out on out on 'flaunting' my big vocabulary.
"It basically means that your minor action; the straw. Caused Craig's big reaction; broke the camels back. Even though everyone else was saying all of the same stuff you were saying, yours must have been Craig's breaking point." I could only watch in amazement as he slowly caught on to what I was saying.
"Yeah, I guess that makes sense. Now that you break it down like that, my brain is just a little slow sometimes. People normally look at me like I'm stupid, I'm not stupid." I laughed from the reference but quickly stopped when Stan questionably looked at me laughing like a mad man. I was familiar with that feeling. Tweek knows all of these Disney references and gets slightly annoyed when I have no clue about what he's talking about.
"Never mind. So am I really the talk of the town?" I quickly realized that those words were yet another saying that Stan might take literally, he might think I was actually talking about the whole town when I was clearly referring to the kids at the school. "What I meant to say is... everyone at school is really that interested in me?"
"Uh huh. All of the girls were fascinated by you. Even a couple of guys. I can see why you're on bad terms with Craig. Before, all of the girls would be constantly hitting on him. Everyone caught on that he wasn't actually gay like the Asian group of girls portrayed him as, when he would flirt with girls any time he could. Tweek made a smart choice letting go of Craig so he could pursue an actual relationship with a guy who treats him right. School's only been in session for less than an hour and it's easy for everyone to take notice the clear difference between Craig and yourself when it comes to Tweek. I honestly think Craig is envious of all the attention Tweek is getting now that he's going out with you." Wow, is this guy trying to make me feel bad for Craig? If so he's doing a pretty good job.
"Believe me, I'm trying my best to not cross paths with Craig. As long as he stays out of my way there shouldn't be any problems." As if it was planned, Craig got released from the principals office and was told to return back to class. He didn't seem very enthused with Stan carrying on a conversation with myself though, mumbling curses under his breath. On that awkward note Stan handed me the now room temperature ice pack and left a few minutes after Craig did. Does this mean Stan and I are friends?
Probably not, but only time will tell. I all ready have a best friend and I don't plan on replacing him anytime soon.
I'm curios to see how many Style comments were made during this chapter. I know Style is a fan favorite on this site but only a few people know that it's my least favorite. I might not have made it perfectly clear that in this book; stop trying to make 'Style' happen. It's not going to happen.
Mini rant over, now moving on to a major milestone.
Today (April 29th 2019) is the one year anniversary of this story being published. Where it currently sits at 4.79k reads, 498 votes, and 46 parts. I can't express enough all of the gratitude I feel for all of the comments and votes you lovely people leave. This book didn't get much traction until a month later and within that time I had posted ten more chapters. (Yeah the first part of the book the length of the chapters weren't very large but I updated every few days.) Also I think some readers thought that this story would eventually turn into a Creek story but I had all ready read so many of those with that exact scenerio and I had no plans to stray away from the Twyle plot I had my heart set on from the beggining. So once again, thank you thank you thank you soooo much for all of the love and support this book has received.
