It was fairly early in the morning, my wonky sleep schedule deciding I needed to be up at the ass crack of dawn. Barry had kept true to his word, like he always had, and was sleeping at my side. After a while of just watching him, I turned over a bit and ran my fingers over his abdomen, softly humming Beautiful Dreamer to myself. I wasn't really intent on anything, nor was I anywhere near ready to be awake, so I just laid here and admired him.
I don't know when I woke up, or how long I had been laying here for, but it was a while before I felt Barry's hand smooth up my back. I kept up my motions as he slowly came to awareness, his dark brown eyes slowly opening to meet mine. "Hello," I greeted in a chuckle, going back to softly humming.
"Hey," he grogily mumbled, taking a deep breath and drawing my attention away from his face.
"How did you sleep?" I asked curiously, laying my hand flat over his chest.
"Better, for once," he yawned out. I smiled and took note of his somewhat steady heartbeat.
"Good," I hummed gently pressing my lips to his side. I could feel his muscles tense under my light, breif touch, and when I looked to his face again, I grinned at the flush on his cheeks. I crawled a little further up the bed and rested my head on his shoulder, draping my arm over his chest. After taking a slow breath, I could feel my body mold into his as I relaxed further. I smiled when Barry curled around me, bringing his other arm around my back and holding me tightly, my eyes closed when he ran his fingers over a patch of my exposed skin.
His birthday was in about a month, plenty of time to plan out what I want to do for him. He deserved so much more than I could think of at this moment, after all that he did for me while I was locked up and all that he's doing for me now. "What're you thinking about?" he questioned softly, his fingers expanding their reach.
"You," I easily breathed, pulling him impossibly closer. "Shh."
"You must be thinking hard," he chuckled. With an involuntary smile I laid my hand over his mouth, adjusting my head around my arm's new position. I could feel his lips pull back in a smile, kissing my palm as I got comfortable. I closed my eyes as I felt an unusual flush in my face, curling into my arm a bit to try and hide it. Gah, what is he doing to me? "What're you thinking that's got you so red in the face?" he teased after moving from under my hand.
Rolling my eyes, I returned my hand to his hair as I looked him over, the heat in my face slowly dwindling as I watched him. "What am I supposed to get for the man who deserves more than everything?" I slowly admitted, still just as clueless now as I was before.
"Dinner at an all you can eat buffet?" he easily suggested, shrugging as if it were nothing at all. "Why are you thinking about my birthday?" I rolled my eyes, feeling his grip shift on my back, his fingers traveling over the stars.
"Because you deserve it, duh," I chuckled, noticing how he purposely followed the spiraling pattern. "And I'm not even talking in a broad sense. What you did for me for my birthday and Christmas alone earns you so much more than I know how to give." I looked up to his face and pushed the hair off of his forehead, an involuntary smile slowly taking place on my lips.
"You don't need to give me anything," Barry assured. "You do enough on a daily basis." I let go of his hair and watched it fall perfectly back into place, keeping my disagreement to myself.
"If you say so," I chuckled, running my fingers down his face. I put one of my legs between his to leverage myself up and kiss him, his face warm where it met mine. In the smallest gaps, there was even a light radiation of it. There was a large, horrible sound that resembled throwing a hunk of metal into a woodchipper, causing both Barry and I to jump. Though, when he did, his fingers popped me with static as he now sat up. We both ran out of the room, though he was considerably slower than usual.
