Shawn's pov:
“How about that movie?“ I asked my girlfriend for the what feels like tenth time tonight.
“Shawn, I told you I don't wanna see a horror movie.“
“Come on, just this one time. It's really good, please babe. I promise I'll be there to protect you!“ She rolled her eyes and sighed.
“Fine. But just this one.“ with that she pulled the blankets over her feet and got comfortable on the sofa. I started the movie and sat down next to her.
Halfway through the movie she was holding onto me tightly while I tried to comfort her. Just then a scary scene came on that made her scream so loud that I immediately turned off the tv. Y/n was shaking in my arms and it broke my heart seeing her like this.
“Hey, everything is okay. I'm here. I'm sorry I made you watch that.“ I rubbed her back but she just shrugged it off.
“I'm fine.“ I could see it in her face that she was lying but I didn't want to say anything else so I decided to just let it go.
“Should we watch something else?“
“No, to be honest I'm pretty tired, can we just go to sleep?“
“Of course honey. Come on.“ We stood up and got ready for bed before getting under the covers together. I turned off the light and pulled my arms around her, holding her close while we both slowly fell asleep.

I woke up in the middle of the night because of Y/n screaming next to me.
“Hey, Y/n wake up! It's okay, everything is okay. I'm here, wake up.“ once she was awake she just laid in my arms, trying to bring her heavy breathing under control.
“I'm sorry I made you watch that stupid movie.“ I whispered.
“It's okay Shawn. Don't worry about me, I'm okay.“ She smiled at me.

2 weeks later:
I got a call in the middle of the night waking me up. It was Y/n so I quickly answered the phone.
“Y/n? What's up?“
“Shawn? Can you please come over?“ She whispered.
“Are you okay?“ I immediately was completely awake.
“I don't know. Please come.“ She sniffled and I jumped out of the bed.
“I'm on my way!“ I ran out to my car and started driving to Y/n's apartement just a few minutes away. When I arrived there I took out the spare key she gave to me and unlocked the door.
“Y/n?“ I called for her after I opened the door.
“I'm in the bedroom.“
“Baby are you okay? What happened?“
“I'm sorry, I just couldn't sleep anymore. I haven't slept in days and I can't do this anymore.“
“What do you mean?“
“The nightmares. I can't sleep anymore because I keep waking up because of them and I thought they would go away but I can't do this anymore.“ it broke my heart seeing her cry.
“Why didn't you tell me baby?“
“Because I didn't want to worry you. But I need you.“
“It's okay, I'm here. I'm not going anywhere, I promise you.“ With that I crawled into the bed to her any took her in my arms.
“I'm sorry that I made you watch that stupid movie. I'm really sorry. I didn't want you to feel like this and I'm sorry I haven't been there for you earlier.“
“It's okay Shawn. You couldn't know that I would get those nightmares. I'm okay.“ She laid her head onto my chest and I held her close to me.
“I think you should try and get some sleep now. And don't worry, I'm here.“
“You're right. Good night Shawn. I love you.“
“Good night Y/n. I love you too.“
“Oh and Shawn?“
“Huh?“
“Thank you for doing this.“
“Always, honey!“
