“Ten, nine, eight...“ my friends were counting down the seconds until my birthday. We sat in a little bar in Amsterdam, waiting for the clock to turn midnight. We sat around a big table together, everyone had a glass filled with alcohol already in his hands.
“Seven, six, five...“ they continued, getting more and more excited every second.
“Four, three, two, one...“

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHAWN!!!“ they all cheered together, taking a sip out of their glasses. I took a sip of my red wine before I smiled at all of them.
“Thank you guys, I really appreciate it! It means a lot to be here with all of you tonight, thank you for coming with me to Amsterdam!“
“No problem buddy! You're my best friend, of course I'm coming with you!“ Brian smiled and laid his arm around my shoulder. The others agreed as we continued drinking and celebrating. Although I had a really good time and enjoyed being with all of my friends there was still someone that missed. My lovely girlfriend Y/n couldn't come with us because she was really stressed out with college and jobs, even though it was summer break. But her boss wouldn't give her a few days off.
“Dude, you alright?“ Andrew aksed quietly.
“Yeah, just missing Y/n you know... I wish she was here tonight but I think I'm just gonna facetime her when I'm back at the hotel.“ I explained. He had an expression on his face that I couldn't read but he quickly turned back and I just brushed it off.
Two hours later we arrived back at the hotel, all of us a little bit drunk. We laughed as we stumbled into the hotel lobby and made our way upstairs to our rooms.
“Night guys, I'll see you in the morning.“ I waved to them and tried to open my door.
“Night Shawn!“
“Good night everyone!“
I struggled a little with the key but I finally unlocked it and pushed the door open. I closed it behind me and sighed before I turned around again. I decided to just head straight to bed so I made my way into the bathroom to brush my teeth real quick. After I was done I entered the bedroom again but stopped in my tracks when I looked up.
“Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you!“ Y/n came walking over to me, singing terribly wrong but making me incredible happy at the same moment. She had a small cake in her hands with two candles that formed a glowing 20 together on top of it.
“Happy birthday dear Shawnie, happy birthday to you!“ she finished singing. I smiled brightly at her and walked over, placing a sweet kiss on her lips.
“Babe!? What are you doing here?“ I laughed happily.
“I came here to surprise you!“
“Thank you!“
“Anytime. Hey, no, why are you crying?“ She looked at me concerned.
“I'm not crying?“ I frowned confused but then felt the tears roll down my cheeks. Y/n just bursted out laughing. Shawn what's wrong with you? Maybe that last bottle of beer wasn't the best idea. How much have I been drinking?
“You're definitely a little drunk! But hey, you deserve to be celebrated today. I mean, wow, you're 20 now!“ Y/n giggled.
“I-I'm tired. Are you gonna cuddle with me?“ I asked with my best puppy eyes.
“Of course birthday boy! Come on, let's go to bed.“ She took my hand in hers, gently walking me to the king sized bed. We got under the covers and I pulled her close to me, laying my head on her chest while my body laid on top of hers. I felt her chuckle under me and smiled lightly.
“Good night Y/n!“
“Good night Shawn!“ Y/n whispered playing with my hair.
“I love you!“ was the last thing I heard from her before I fully fell asleep.
Okay, well that didn't turn out like I wanted it but I hope you like it anyway!😊
I also have some news: I'm currently writing on a new book called “Gap Year“. It's a Shawn Mendes fanfiction and I promised myself to start publishing it during summer break. I'll be away for a while in two weeks so I won't be able to update during that time. I now decided to start with it at the beginning of september and I'm really excited since I have been writing on it for almost 6 months now. I'm gonna post a sneak peak from the book during the next week and can't wait for the whole book to come out!!😍
