Spells were what Haggar specialized in. Haggar was awfully good at them too. And that's why, when the Galra captured Lance, the blue paladin, Haggar put a spell on him.

A rather dangerous spell, yes. But it was a new spell, one Haggar had recently learned and wasn't one Haggar could just cast on one of her crew members.

So, Haggar casted the spell on Lance and then gave him back to the paladins. Haggar abandoned him on a planet with his lion and then kept a close eye on him.

Haggar wanted to know the absolute power of this spell. Haggar also didn't want one of her teammates to die because of it.

So they watched Lance. After leaving him on the island and giving time for the spell to take hold, the paladins found him and saved him.

Haggar was prepared and able to watch Lance's developments. Haggar watched as Lance lived a few days until he noticed something.

A small black goo was building in the side of his room. Lance wasn't going to touch it, no way.

Lance had siblings and, though he was accustomed to the disgusting, he knew when to touch and when not to.

Lance told Shiro about it. He warned Shiro that it could be some sort of fungus or bacteria. That it simply couldn't be good.

Shiro listened, much to Lance's surprise and happiness. Shiro took the black goop out of Lance's room with the help of the other paladins.

They put it in a small container and held it there. They examined it and watched it and poked at it.

And when it grew, they got it a bigger holder. Pidge was the main tester of the goop. Pidge did most of the work.

That's why when Pidge came down the hall at breakfast time, screaming about humans and talking, everyone listened.

Pidge explained, "the goop grew and it has a head, a body. It can talk! I mean I know it was growing things similar to organs but..."

Pidge rambled and rambled But half of the team was already at the cell where the goop was respectively called, Goop.

They stared at Goop and Goop stared back. It was silence for a while. Everyone was surrounding the glass. Waiting for something.

Then, Goop turned around till it faced Lance and said, "oh, hello there. You must be Lance. I'd shake your hand but I'm afraid I'm being held in a cell."

Everyone scrambled back, scared and confused. They didn't know what this was, Lance didn't know what this was.

Pidge wanted to do physical tests though. Pidge hit a few buttons on their computer and the cell door opened.

The strange goop walked out of the cell and just looked at the paladins, majority of whom were ready to fight Goop.

Goop cleared its throat and smiled, somehow. It looked at the paladins, clapped its hands and said, "I'm not a threat."

Pidge ran up to Goop and exclaimed, "come here! Follow me!"

Pidge led Goop to a side room for physical tests and the paladins all looked at each other, questioning what they should do.

There's was a brief pause before Pidge yelled, "whoa! You're stronger than Shiro and Keith!"

Shiro and Keith looked at each other, a silent battle for who was stronger. Hunk glanced at Lance, slightly worried.

Lance stared at the ground. This thing was found in Lance's room, certainly Lance would get questions he couldn't answer.

Pidge cane back out with Goop and told the others, "he can hear Blue like Lance! It's like he part of Lance but different from Lance. He's different but the same, he's better!"

Lance felt his stomach drop. This black and red goop was stronger, faster, and smarter than Lance could ever be.

Lance smiled at the team, holding his own sadness and self pity inside himself. He thinks up an excuse before talking.

"This has been... quite the day. Very eventful. I think I'll go get some shuteye. You know, sleep this weirdness off."

He lets out a laugh but it sounds dry and bitter. Lance hopes no one notices it. On his way out, he notices the Goop's evil smile.

Lance feels scared as he walks away. He can hear the others talking with Goop, laughing and joking with the faker.

For the first time since he joined Voltron, he didn't have a nightmare about being forgotten on Earth, he had a nightmare about being forgotten on the ship.

The next day, when Lance went to breakfast, a good 15 minutes late, he heard laughing. Walking into the kitchen, he saw Goop sitting and eating.

"What's he doing here?" Lance asks, probably sounding rude. Lance didn't care though, after the nightmare he wanted Goop gone.

Lance hopes he would be gone after a while. He hopes that the other paladins would leave him on a planet to start his own life.

Too bad it didn't play out like that.

Pidge exclaims, "Lance! Don't be rude! We figured out that he works exactly like a human! He needs to eat too."

Lance feels scared. He doesn't know why but he knows this deep rooted fear, he's felt it before. Something is very wrong.

Lance sits down, still feeling bad. He eats and thinks, he doesn't joke at all. He doesn't feel like it.

Lance doesn't talk much that day, or the next, or the week afterwards. Lance just watches. He watches his teammates get closer to Goop.

Every time Lance tries to talk, he gets cut off by Goop. Lance doesn't know what his plan is, but this feeling in Lance's chest hadn't left since he showed up.

Lance was slowly being forgotten, which was one of Lance's worst fears. Lance didn't know what to do.

He didn't know what this copycat truly meant for Lance's existence.
