----Jedean Point of View----

I sighed as I looked for a decent song to listen while on this hellish bus ride over to our next match.

You'd think in this day and age, finding a decent song would be easy. Not really though, I have over thousand of songs on my iTouch, and I still can't decide. Not to mention that the girl next to me has been eyeing my iPod the entire ride over, slightly annoying me. However, she was a teammate/friend/a weirdo.

"Alright girls, are you ready to kick their butts?!" Coach Goldie asked us. I lazily cheered with the other girls, not really paying attention as I turned up my iPod as loud as it possibly could go. I'm sure she was giving us more of a pep talk, but I wasn't too keen on listening to them before, so why stop now?

Gan and Sara came up next, finally a decent enough song. I leaned my head on the window as I let the music lull me into an empty thinking.

Next thing I knew, I was being tapped on my shoulder by the girl sitting next to me. I opened my eyes and saw we had arrived. 'That was rather quick...'

"Come on Jedean, we're here." She said as she handed me my gym bag.

"Thanks Jules." I said with mock humor as we slid out of the seat.

We were playing our 1st match of the year today. It was at a lower ranked school, so I wasn't in much awareness of what was going on.

As we took the field, our uniforms on and ready to go, we all took a seat on the opposite side as the other team. I looked at the other varsity team and scoffed. 'Why am I being so cocky?' Most likely because I was starting as forward for the first time ever, and was pretty damn confident in myself.

"Alright, let's do some basic warm ups." The coach ordered, the girls and me standing up.
Ok, pass the ball then dribble then pass again.
This was easy as hell. I rolled my eyes as I watched the other team do the same drill. Some of them were rather... bad.

However, my eyes caught onto a girl who was doing very impressive moves with her feet. A few times I swear she was about to lose control on where the ball was gonna go, but amazingly she'd catch it at the last second with her other leg. I became highly distracted. So distracted, that I ran into Stella, the goalie on our team. I growled in annoyance as everyone, including people in the stands behind us, laughed.

"Pay more attention, Tan." The Coach ordered. I chewed on the inside of my cheek. I looked over to the other team and noticed she had been giggling as well. I felt my cheeks light on fire as I quickly went back to doing passing drills.

About twenty minutes went by and the stands were starting to fill up with friends from the school and family members.

I felt my face drop as I saw my mom and dad sit in the bleachers. I did smile as I saw that they brought my younger brother, Jade. He was only seven, and adored me. In fact, he was now joining a small soccer league. Ok, enough about my personal life.

The game was about to start.

"Alright girls, take your positions!" The Ref instructed a few seconds later. I rolled my head in a circle to release the tension in my shoulders. "Captains, please report to me for the coin toss." My team mates took their places on the field as I walked to the center. I noticed their captain had stayed the same as last year. She met at the center, a bitchy stare towards me. I smirked.

"We're gonna win." She said in a boyish voice. I felt my face crumple up. I didn't bother to say anything to that.

"Ready? Loyola Heights, heads or tails?" The ref Asked as he flipped the huge coin.

"Heads." She said as she continued to glare at me. I looked over her shoulder to see that girl looking straight at me.

"Heads it is pick your term." The girl chose for them to have the ball first. Off the game went.

The first thing I noticed was that the majority of the passes went immediately to this new girl. We were constantly fighting for the overall capture. My heart was racing a million miles a second as I was pushing my legs to keep up with her; my team cheering me on as I scored two goals.

I stole the ball a few times from her, showing my own tricks off. I nearly made a face plant as she skidded right under me, leaping up in half a breath and charging away from me with the ball in her control. I stood there, star struck as I watched this amazing girl run away from me.

"What are you doing?! Get back in there!" Coach yelled at me. I heard Jade scream at me to run.
I shook myself out of my limpness and ran back up the field, only to be too late. She had scored another goal on us. I smirked as I looked at the scoreboard; 5-4 with Loyola Heights in the lead. I jogged back to the center of the field, her in tow. She looked at me with a smile on her face.

"You're good." She said, out of breath. My goalie was just about to throw the ball in play.

"Oh, thanks. You too. Have you played for Loyola Heights long? I don't recognize you." I commented as I noticed the ball flying into play, our halfbacks fighting over it. I stayed on my feet as I ran with her.

"No, just this year."

"Oh, you act like you've played forever."

"Tan! What are you doing?! Get to the front of the field and stay there!" My coach instructed. I groaned as I obeyed. She laughed.
We were on the opposite side of the field now, where we supposed to be. I grew excited as my halfbacks made contact with the ball. The ball was passed to me and in a matter of a few moments, a goal. I tied it, 5-5 now.

As the next half was played, it became and even closer game. Their strikers being stopped by our Defenders as my forwards were being stopped by theirs. It was a game of cat and mouse, except nothing getting done.

"Come on girls!" Our coach yelled. I noticed number 15, that girl, was pulling off more tricks by the goal line. A defender snatched the ball from her.
A smile was about to form on my face when I noticed that she had won the ball back. 'God damn she's amazing.' I thought to myself as she punched the ball back with her foot and kicked it over her head, a new goal was made; 6-5.
The horn blew signalling the winner of the game, Loyola Heights. I stood there with a slight shock and admiration on face. My teammates were now beyond pissed off.

"Great kick, Miller!" Their coach praised as they ran over and tackled the girl. My team just stood around, gathering their things into their gym bags.
I turned around to see my brother running up to me.

"You guys lost!" Jade stated obviously. I caught him in my arms and lifted him up as my parents walked up to pat me on the back.

"I know, but it was an extremely good game don't you think?" I asked him as we walked back to my teammates. He nodded as he still had a pout on his face, I laughed.

"Very good game, honey." My mom praised as she patted me on the shoulder. I smiled at her. My dad just shrugged his shoulders. I waited for his negative remarks as I packed up my bag and threw on track pants.

"What I don't understand, is why you were all over the field today, you're never like that."

"I don't know, I guess I wanted a change of pace."

"That number 15 girl was amazing." My mom pointed out as she nodded her head in her direction. I looked over and noticed kids around her as well.
I smiled as I nodded in my agreement.

"Yeah, she's very good. Better than me obviously. You guys ready for pizza?" I asked. Haden jumped up and down as he bolted to the car. I laughed as my parents walked hand in hand back to the car, my gym bag in my dad's hand.

"You need to ride back on the bus, Tan." My coach ordered. I looked at her and sighed. My parents looked at me and said they'd meet me at the restaurant.
I was in the process of putting my hair up when I randomly bumped into someone.
