—- Jemma POV—

When I got home, everything was in shambles. Noel wasn't dressed and was crying in the corner.
My sister was busy getting some sort of breakfast ready.
And well... my mom was yelling at Noel for some reason. I flung my purse on the counter and walked over to them.

"Noel, just put on your shoes!" My mom was half dressed and half still in her pj's. She looked extremely exhausted as she ran a hand through her hair.

"No! I don't want to go!" He whined as he kicked the table next to him. My mom threw her hands up in defeat.
She turned around and noticed me, placing her hands on my shoulders.

"Please get him to listen to you, and where were you last night?" She questioned me. I shook my head as I walked around her, kneeling in front of Noel. He had tears streaming down his face.

"Noel, what's the matter?" I asked him as I picked him up. He sniffed as he wiped his tears. I could tell my mom was still in the background, waiting for my answer but also wanting to calm Noel down.

"I threw out his old sneakers and bought him new ones. He won't wear them." My mom said with a weary sigh. I turned around to look at her.

"The Spiderman shoes?" I asked. Noel looked at me with a sad face.

"Yeah! She threw them away! She's mean to me Jemie!" I looked back at him then backed to my mom, who had looked like she was about to cry herself.

"Mom, just go get ready, I'll take care of him." I told her as walked Noel back into his room. I placed him on his bed as I grabbed some clothes for him to wear that day.

"No! I don't want to go!" He whined some more as he began to throw a fit.

"Where are your new shoes?" I asked him. He pointed to his table with a disgruntled look. I picked them up and placed them in his hands. "See these? They're better for your feet; they're bigger. Remember how the old ones would pinch you and hurt?" He nodded slowly as he wiped more tears away. "Well, these are Pokemon shoes, but, they won't hurt you anymore. And you love Pokemon remember?"

"But... I like my old ones... More..." He huffed out. I smiled at him as I pulled his nightshirt off and replaced it with his new one.

"I know, but mommy wanted to surprise you with better shoes for you. She bought these especially for you so you can run better with your friends and play with them." I said as I helped him get in his shorts. "I want you to put your new ones on and go say sorry to mommy." He looked at me with sad eyes.

"But I'll miss them!" He cried to me. I fluffed his hair up as I smiled down at him.

"But remember, these are better. Mommy gave them to you, so I want you to go say sorry and give her a big hug and kiss, alright?" I asked as I put on his new shoes on. He kicked his legs back and forth and nodded. "That's a good boy. Go do it now." He gave me a watery smile and jumped off his bed, running to mom's room. I sighed as I looked at my phone. I had only 20 minutes to get ready for class. I quickly changed, not bothering with my hair today. Looks like a hair tie will be my best friend for the day. I took a look in my mirror; I guess I looked decent enough. I headed to the kitchen where I saw Daney had a plate of food ready for me. She gave me a curious look as I took a seat at the table, eating as fast as possible alongside Noel.

"So... where were you last night? You didn't come home." She questioned as she took a seat in front of me. I looked over to the doorway as mom came in, taking a seat as well.

"I was at Jedean's house; she needed help on her homework with math.

Oh, here mom." I said as I placed the four hundred dollars in front of her. She dropped her fork on her plate as she picked it up.

"Where did you get this?" She asked with a confused face. I looked over at Daney, who had a questioning look.

"I tutor her on math. Her dad paid me that for helping out." Daney raised an eyebrow at me.

"Oh Jemma... this is too much money... you should of given it back." She said as she handed it back to me. I wrinkled my foreheads in frustration.

"I did... or I tried to. He wouldn't take no for an answer.
Also, they want all of us to go to their house for dinner. Said she wanted to talk to you about something."

"Emily and Nathan are too nice to us... do you know what she wants to talk about? We normally just talk on the phone." She commented as she ate her breakfast.

"Maybe, like normal people, she wants to hang out with you?" We laughed as mom blushed.

"Oh girls." She smiled. "Well, I get off at 7 today..." She frowned. I bit my lip as I thought for a moment.

"Mom, I want you to go back to only working 5 days a week..." She looked up at me with a small smile.

"You and me both sweetie, but we can't afford for me to do that... I'll be alright. You better head off to work and school you three."
She handed me back the money. "Buy yourself something nice, you worked for that money." I cringed as I took the money back, watching as she placed her dish in the sink, taking one last drink of juice before grabbing her keys. "I'll call her and talk to her about it.
You three have a lovely day, drive safe."

Before we could say anything else, she was gone.

"I wish she wouldn't have to work so much...

And she never takes my money I offer either." Daney said as she grabbed our plates from the table. I instructed Noel to grab his backpack.

"I know... she never lets us help."

"I have some money saved up for her..." Daney said as she turned around, leaning up against the sink.

I raised my eyebrow at that.

"How much?" She smiled

"About six thousand." My jaw dropped.

"How the hell?!"

"I work three jobs?" She explained. I rolled my eyes as I smiled. "They pay really well.

So, wanna help me build it? I can put the four hundred in if you want." I smiled as I handed her the cash.

"We'll make her take a vacation!" I smiled a wide smile as I noticed Daney had the same look on her face.

"Already have that covered too. I'm just waiting till her birthday." Daney walked over and patted my head. I rolled my eyes as I gave her a hug.

"You're awesome." I said. She smiled and flipped her hair

"I know right?" She said in a vale voice. We shared a laugh as I watched Noel walk in the kitchen.

"Did you say sorry to mom?" I asked him as I kneeled in front of him. He nodded as he sniffled some more.

"Yeah... I gave her a hug too! She said she was sorry she had to throw my spider shoes away... but I told her I liked these ones more now! Even though I don't!" I smiled at his innocence.

Daney came over and picked him up, giving him a kiss on the cheek.

"Have a good day at school and a good karate lesson bud! Remember, we have plans this weekend for How to Train Your Dragon?" She asked him. He gasped as he bounced.

"Yay!"

"Well, come on I have to take you to school." I said as we headed out the door.
As Noel ran out the door, I was stopped by my sister.

"What?"

"You might want to cover up that hickey Jedean gave you by the way."
