Jemie! Show to Jade how good you are! He doesn't believe me that you're better than Dean!" I heard Noel cry out.
I moved away from her, whipping my mouth, and not looking at her. Noel came running around the tropical trees to the table then jumping on Jemma.
I looked back at her and she had a very flustered/ confused/distraught face. I smiled at her and shrugged my shoulders."O-okay okay! Let's go." She said breathlessly as she stood up, grabbing the ball from the small boy and walking around the tree frame. I let out a worried gulp of breath that I didn't even know I was holding.
I stood up and followed them, leaning against the bark as I watched Jemma move her legs with the ball, balancing it behind her with her foot, then kicking it back over her head. 'God she is amazing...'
I paid attention to her footwork, but also making note that she kept flashing her eyes up to me every once and a while. The boys sat on the floor, observing her in awe. I felt just as young and amazed as they did probably, I was star-struck.
"See?! I told you she was better!" The blue eyed boy exclaimed. I sadly had to agree with him. She was better than me. Will I ever admit that out loud? No, no I will not.
"Nu uh!" Jade cried as he grabbed the ball from her and ran up to me, shoving it in my hands. I looked down at him and saw his interesting and amusing battle face. I raised my eyebrow at his innocence. "Show them that one thing Jedean!" I looked at Noel then to Jemma; her eyes looking elsewhere, I sighed.
"K, get the cone." I told him. He jumped and clapped as he ran over and grabbed one. He stood in the medium sized goal, cone on his head with his arms stretched out. I placed the ball on the ground and closed my eyes.
"Oh you have to be kidding me. You cannot pull that off!" Jemma laughed as she sat on the ground. I gave her a lazy stare as I stretched my arms, which to me seemed pointless.
"Yes she can!" Jade whined.
I took a few steps back, looked dead on at him, then ran up to the ball and launched it. It felt like slow motion as the ball whizzed over his head, successfully knocking over the cone and entering the net.
I turned around to see both Noel and Jemma sitting there with their jaws slacked. "See! I told you she could!""Uhm... wow... how did you..." She started as she stood up and walked over to us.
"It's uh... really not that hard if you do it a few times." Why did I sound so nervous? She gave me a toothy grin as Noel pulled on my shirt. I looked down and saw his toothless smile.
"Can you show me how to do that too?!"
"Sure." I laughed as I gave the boys the ball, laughing as I heard them fight over it. I walked over to where Jemma was standing and took a seat on the grass. She looked down at me and smiled, sitting as well.
"You're just full of surprises eh?" She asked. I noticed that sun had nearly fallen down, which meant they had to leave soon...
"Not really." I smiled back. She looked at me for a moment; her face turning a light shade of red then looked elsewhere. "What...?"
"Uhm, nothing. We should get going. I still have homework to do." She said, but didn't seem to move.
"You liked it, didn't you?" I asked randomly. I brought my knees up as I leaned back on my hands to get a better look at her.
She looked back at me with a confused face, but I knew she knew what I meant. "Don't bother asking 'what do you mean.' Because, I can see it on your face that you do." I commented as I looked on at the boys kicking the ball around...while practicing karate? Gosh they are odd."You kissing me?"
"Obviously?" I laughed as I looked at her. To my surprise, her face wasn't flushed or even confused. The last rays of the run was making her Hazel eyes look more like honey and her hair looked like a soft brown. I looked away quickly as I caught myself staring a little longer than I wanted to. 'Who am I kidding, I love looking at her as creepy as that sounded.' I looked back over and noticed she was gone.
I looked all over and finally caught the glimpse of her back heading back over to the table area.
I groaned and rolled my eyes as I stood up to catch up with her. "Are you gonna answer my question?""No," She laughed, "Most likely not." I grinded my teeth as I felt my jaw clench a few times.
"Why not? Are you scared that you actually liked it?" I asked as I watched her put things in her back pack. "Jemma!" She jumped slightly. I watched as she sighed and placed the notebook back down, looking up at me.
"No, but that's what bothers me. I did like it..." She said as she bit her lip, but didn't move her eyes away from mine. "Happy? I liked it. I did, a lot actually. I've made out with tons of guys, but didn't like it as much as I liked that. Okay? Is that what you wanted to hear?" She asked as she gave me a look I couldn't figure out.
