Chapter 18: Tutoring my Poor Soul!

"Jemma can you show us now? Jedean is being a bore!" Jade complained as she kicked the ball at the back of Dean's legs. She turned around and glared at him as she ran after him.

Actually, we really need to get going. It's almost 8 and we still need to do our homework." I said as I stood up.

"Nu uh! Jade's mom already helped us with our homework Jemie!" Noel whined as he ran up to me.

"Ok well, I still need to do homework, so go grab your back pack and put your shoes on." I said as I pushed his cheeks together, earning an annoyed sigh from the 7 year old.

The boys walked solemnly back inside, acting like they had just heard the worst news ever

"Quite the actors aren't they?" Bannie laughed as she stood up as well. Jedean smiled as she brushed off the grass.

That is a total understatement." We shared a mutual laugh as we all headed back inside. Jedean's mom was busy doing the dishes, typical housewife, and clearing up the table as her dad was in the living watching TV.

"Oh, Jemma I was meaning to ask you something." Her dad called as he turned to look at us.

"Hm?"

"I was wondering if maybe you could help Jedean out on her Math homework, she's not very good at math and doesn't care for it so I figured, you being good in math I hear, could you help her out." I looked over and noticed Jedean's now pissed off face expression as she leaned against the wall.

"Uhm, yeah if she wants. When though?" I asked as I heaved up Noel's back pack.

"Well, I know you come over every day to pick up Noel, so why not during then? Maybe just 3 days a week? I can pay you fine." He laughed as he noticed Jedean's face as well. I looked at Bannie and sighed as all she did was shrug her shoulders

"Dad..."

"Don't you 'dad...' at me Jedean. You know you aren't very well in math." She rolled her eyes as she headed out the front door. "So, what do you say?"

"I'll ask my mom." I said with a smile as I followed Bannie and Jedean out the front door. I looked at Bannie as she rolled her eyes and took Noel to go buckle him in the car. I looked at Dean and saw her amused look.

Well look at you, wanting to spend more time with me by the second eh?" She flattered herself. I scoffed as I smiled.

Yeah... Sure. Anyway, I wanted to tell you not to take what Bannie said seriously."

About your liking me?" She asked as she leaned against the front porch. I watched her body language and smiled.

"Yep."

"Yeah, ok. So, are you gonna take my dad's offer in tutoring my poor soul?" She smirked. I looked at her as I tried to read what that face was saying to me, nothing. I smiled as I looked back at Bannie leaning against my car.

Maybe. Would that be a problem?" I asked as I sized her up as well. She raised her brows at me for a moment then smiled. She leaned in slightly, but I didn't move away.

Honestly? I would love seeing you more. As for you tutoring me, well, maybe I can persuade you to do something else as well?" She smirked as I felt my face turn red. I rolled my eyes and sighed.

Yeah, ok good luck with that."

By how you're reacting right now, I highly doubt I need any luck. See you tomorrow?"

I chewed on the inside of my cheek as I glared up at her.

Listen, I don't know what type of mind games you're playing, but can you just drop this whole playful flirt you're pulling on me?" I requested. She bit her lip as she didn't break eye contact from me. I felt uneasy now...

What mind games?" She asked finally as she shifted her eyes elsewhere. I felt the air in my lungs escape me rapidly as I felt light headed. She looked at me again with a confused and annoyed expression. "Whoever said I was playing mind games?"

It sure seems like it... you're always being so flirtatious with me." I answered as I noticed Bannie's curious face, obviously wondering what we were talking about, so I turned my back to her.

Are you homophobic or something?" She questioned as she crossed her arms. I felt strange as I thought about that question.

"N-no. Why?"

"Because, I'm bisexual." She said nonchalantly.

"Oh..."

Oh?" She copied as she tried to catch my eye, but not catching them as I kept averting them. "What? Are you going to act all weird now?

"No, will you shut up? I don't care if you're bisexual. But, why are you playing with me?" I wondered as I looked at her full on now.

"Jemma will you hurry up?!" Bannie roared as she tapped on the roof of my car. I looked over and waved on.

You should go. I'll see you tomorrow?" She said as she rolled her eyes. I bit my lip as I noticed the way she was standing. Her arms covered up her torso, and her standing position was lazy, yet defensive. Her eyes were a grey tint of the normally dark blue.

You're very strange Jedean..." I sighed as I turned to leave.

How am I strange?" I casted a look over my shoulder.

"I don't know, but you're definitely confusing with your emotions."

What the f---?"

I shrugged my shoulders as I ran down the driveway and to my car.

What the hell took so long? Was she proposing or something?" Bannie questioned as she looked at me.

"No.

Do you guys want ice cream?" I asked as I looked back at Noel's excited face.

"Yeah!" I didn't bother looking at Jedean as I pulled away.

I sighed to myself as I let my mind wonder.

"What are you hiding from me Jemma?"

"I don't know what you're talking." I felt really strange as I let Jedean's face seep into my thoughts.

'This isn't good...' I thought to myself as I cringed. I wanted to tutor her... because I really do want to see more of her. Just her and I, and that scared me. Did that mean that I liked her as more than a friend? No, it can't be that because I barely know her. 'Well if you think about it you know a lot about her already...' Ok well maybe that part is true, but still, get real Jemma. You're not gay or even bisexual.

"Uhm hello! The road! Where the fuck is your head?!" Bannie yelled, brining me out of my blankness as she pulled the wheel back. I shook my head as I lured my thoughts away from me.

"Sorry... so ice cream?" I smiled as Bannie glared at me.
