Chapter 10: Picture Day

Beep Beep Beep went Dawn's alarm clock. Dawn turned it off and then she slowly opened her eyes and stretched. 

Dawn took out her rollers from last night and they left behind beautiful beach curls and then she sprayed them with hairspray and put in her pink headband.

Then she went to her closet and took out her picture day outfit. After that she carefully  took off her pajamas and put them in her laundry hamper. 

Dawn unzipped the zipper on the back of the dress and slipped it on herself.

Then she put on her black kitten heels, her faux pearl bracelet and some makeup.

Since Dawn was in middle school now, she was allowed to wear makeup as long as it still looked natural. She wore gray eyeshadow, mascara and pink lipstick.

Then in the bedroom next to hers, Dawn's twin brother, John and her adoptive brother, Derek were still asleep in their beds. 

Dawn set her alarm an hour earlier than seven fifteen so she would have plenty of time to do her hair, get dressed and put her makeup on.

She tiptoed downstairs to get herself some breakfast and pack her lunch. Dawn packed her lunchbox. She put a slice of cold cheese pizza, a bottle of water and sugar cookies in it.

Then she got out some cereal and poured it in a bowl and added some milk.

After eating her breakfast, Dawn went back to her bedroom and reapplied her lipstick.

She decided to put her lipstick in her backpack pocket.

Then her brother's alarm clock went off and it stopped ringing.

Ten minutes later, John and Derek came out of their bedroom all dressed and ready to go.

After saying goodbye to their parents, the three siblings walked to the corner of the street to meet Christy.

Christy was in her outfit that Dawn helped her pick out and the boys hardly recognized her.

"Is that you Christy?" asked John

"It's me." said Christy 

"You look amazing." added John.

"You really do look lovely today." said Derek

"Thank you Derek you look very handsome today." said Christy

The four friends walked to school and waited for the bell to ring.

The bell rang at seven fifty five and the four friends went to their regular classes until the principal said it was time for them to go to the auditorium for their pictures.

At nine o' clock the principal called all the students down to the auditorium.

After waiting in line for fifteen minutes, John was first to get his picture taken.

"Just look straight ahead at the camera." said the photographer 

Then he took the picture and said "Thank you, next."

Dawn was second and the photographer said "Thank you, next."

Then it was Derek's turn and the photographer said "Thank you, next."

Christy was the last out of the four to get her picture taken and the photographer said "Thank you, next."

After getting their pictures taken it was lunchtime and the four friends sat outside at the picnic tables.

"I loved my first picture day." said Derek while opening his lunchbox.

"I saw your smile and it was very genuine and bright." said Christy while biting into her apple.

Derek blushed while opening his water bottle.

"Christy likes my smile? I never thought my smile was bright, but if she thinks it's that great than it must be true." He thought to himself out loud.
