The last two weeks of summer vacation went by very quickly and it was the Hart kids and Christy's last year of being students at Green Hill Middle School before going to Tree Top High School. New school supplies have been bought, back to school outfits have been picked out and class schedules have been mailed out.

The alarm clock in John and Derek's room started to beep repeatedly. John woke up and turned it off. Derek stretched his arms and got out of bed.

"Morning John." said Derek as he yawned.

"Morning Derek." said John.

"Ready for the first day of eighth grade?" asked Derek.

"Yeah how about you?" asked John.

"Yeah." said Derek.

Derek took out a blue shirt from his side of the closet, black pants and black sneakers.

John took out a green shirt from his side of the closet, gray pants and gray sneakers.

Dawn picked out a pink t-shirt, blue jeans and pink sneakers from her closet.

The kids went downstairs and had their breakfast of fried eggs and orange juice.

"Bye kids have a good day at school." said Mrs Hart as she gaved the kids a hug and kiss.

The Hart kids went out the door and walked to the corner of the street to meet Christy.

"Hey guys." said Christy.

Christy was wearing a lilac colored top with black stripes, black capris and purple sneakers.

"Hey beautiful." said Derek as he kissed Christy on the cheek.

"I can't believe that this is our last year of being in middle school." said Dawn as she looked at the time on her cellphone.

The four friends walked in the school and saw Steve.

"Hey Dawn." said Steve as he hugged Dawn.

"Hey Handsome." said Dawn.

The kids looked at their class schedules and it turns out that Derek and Christy have English class together.

"We have Mr. Sullivan for English." said Derek as he glanced up from the schedule.

"I heard that he's very tough on the eighth graders." said Steve.

"I'm sure he can't be that bad." said Christy.

"I guess we'll find out during third period." said Derek.

The bell rang and everyone went off to their first class of the day.
