Chapter 21: First Babysitting Job

John, Dawn and Derek were really excited because it was their first time babysitting. After telling their parents about how they got their first customer, The twins decided to give Derek a last minute babysitting crash course. Dawn had her old baby doll to practice changing diapers and getting the baby changed into pajamas.

"When you hold the baby make sure that your hand is behind the back of the head and your supporting the back." said Dawn while demonstrating on her doll.

Dawn put the doll on the carpet and had Derek practice picking up the baby. 

"That's right you got it." said Dawn.

"Now that's covered. I'm gonna show you how to change a diaper." said John.

Dawn's baby doll came with it's own baby bag that had pretend diapers, baby clothes and bottles.

John said "First lay the baby flat on its back. Next you take off the dirty diaper and use a wipe to get rid of the ick. Then you use the baby powder to put on it's butt and the last thing is that you put the clean diaper on the baby." 

The three siblings practiced all day until finally it was time to go to Mrs. Williams ' house.

"Bye kids. Have fun babysitting. Your mom and I won't be home by the time you get back. Do you three have your house keys?" Asked Mr. Hart.

"Yeah they're in our coat pockets." said Derek.

"Ok see you kids later." said Mrs. Hart.

The three siblings walked to Mrs. Williams' house which was on 23 Walnut Street.

The walk took them fifteen minutes but they walked up to the house with a red door and red window shutters.

Derek rang the doorbell and waited for Mrs. Williams to answer it.

Seconds later, Mrs. Williams answered the door and said "Hello kids. How are you?" 

"We're good thank you." said John.

"Well come in and I'll introduce you three to my husband." said Mrs. Williams while holding the door open.

"Jack! The babysitters are here!" hollered Mrs. Williams from downstairs.

Just then, Mr. Williams came downstairs with the baby.

"This is our daughter, Amanda she's three months old." said Mrs. Williams.

"We left our cellphone numbers on a piece of paper on the coffee table in case you have any questions for us. Baby bottles are already prepared for you on the bottom shelf in the refrigerator all you have to do is warm it up in the microwave for one minute. The bathroom is upstairs to the right in case any on you need to use it. Help yourselves to anything in the fridge in case you get hungry or thirsty. Fresh diapers are in the nursery. And we'll be home at around nine o' clock." said Mrs. Williams while she put on her coat.

"Come on Emily, we don't want to be late for our dinner reservation." said Mr. Williams while picking up the car keys and handed Amanda to Dawn.

Mr and Mrs Williams gave Amanda a kiss on the cheek.

"Coming dear. Bye bye sweetheart. Be a good girl for the babysitters." said Mrs. Williams as she picked up her purse.

"Don't worry Mrs. Williams you can count on us." said Dawn.

"Thanks Dawn. I'm sure you and your brothers will do a great job. Goodbye." said Mrs. Williams as she shut the front door.

The car backed out of the driveway and drove up the street until it was out of sight.
