Chapter 16: Care Bear Wedding Invitations

It was a month before opening night of the school musical and the Hart twins were in the living room watching tv. Derek was in the bedroom finishing up his homework and studying for a upcoming math quiz.

"There, that's the last of my homework completed." Derek said while putting his pencil down.

Derek decided to go outside and get some fresh air to relax him after two hours of studying.

He walked downstairs and said "Mom, Dad I'm gonna take a walk."

"Ok honey have fun and be home before dark." Said Mrs. Hart while putting away the dishes.

He opened the front door and walked down the steps. 

Derek walked to the park that was down the street near where he and his siblings meet Christy every morning to walk to school.

He went on the swings and stayed there until the sun started to go down.

When Derek got home, he saw three bubblegum pink envelopes with his name, John and Dawn's names on the front of them written in gold cursive handwriting that were on the front stoop.

Derek bent down to pick them up and brought them inside.

"Hey honey you're just in time for dinner." Called Mrs. Hart from the kitchen setting the table.

Derek put John's envelope on his pillow and Dawn's envelope on her pillow. Derek already knew that they were from his former archenemies and current friends, The Care Bear Family.

After dinner, Dawn went in her bedroom to look for her script for the play. When she opened the door there was the pink envelope laying on her pillow.

"What's in this beautiful envelope?" Dawn thought to herself.

Dawn held the envelope in her hands and went into her brothers room and asked them if they got a pink envelope.

"Yeah I found three of them on the front stoop when I came home from my walk". said Derek 

"I figured that we shouldn't open them until we were all here together." Derek added.

"On the count of three we'll open the envelopes." said John.

His twin sister and red headed brother nodded their heads in agreement.

"Ready? One, Two, Three" counted John.

The three siblings opened the envelopes and saw a white piece of paper that had pink and gold letters on it.

"You are cordially invited to attend the wedding of Tenderheart Bear and Harmony Bear held on June 30, 2020 at ten thirty a.m. R.S.V.P at your earliest convenience." Derek read in a clear voice.

The Hart kids were smiling as they looked up from their invites.

"That's awesome I've always thought that Tenderheart and Harmony would make a cute couple." said Dawn

Seconds later, Dawn's cellphone buzzed in her back pocket. She pulled it out and saw that it was a text from Christy.

The message said "I got a invitation to Tenderheart and Harmony Bear's wedding what about you guys?"

Dawn texted right back and said "Yes we did luckily the address on the envelope was easy to read and we should write them letters to let them know that we're going there."

The three siblings got three pieces of paper and wrote The Care Bears letters telling them that they'll be there for the wedding.

The next day before school the four friends walked to the nearest mailbox and slipped their R.S.V.P letters in the mail slot.

"When it gets closer to the big day we'll go shopping for a wedding gift and they'll be a fancy cloud car that'll take us to Care-ALot." said Dawn while closing the mail slot.

Everyone nodded in agreement and started to walk to school.
