Chapter 49: Christy's Swim Meet

It was Christy's Swim Meet week. The swim meet is on Friday and Christy was practicing her kicking in her bedroom when her cellphone buzzed and she checked to see who was texting her.

It was a message from Derek that said "Hey Beautiful."

Christy texted back saying "Hey Handsome."

Derek texted back saying "What are you doing?"

Christy texted back saying "Practicing my kicking for my first swim meet competition in two days." 

Derek texted back saying "You're a fantastic swimmer you'll do great." 

Christy texted him a kissing emoji and said "Thanks honey gotta get back to practice I'll see you in English class tomorrow." 

Derek texted back saying "Ok sweetie don't work too hard." and sent a kissing emoji.

Finally the big day came and Christy was in the girls locker room getting changed into her purple swimsuit.

She tied her hair in a ponytail and put on her swim teams blue and green bathing cap on her head.

She rummaged through her bag and found her lavender colored goggles.

Christy walked out of the locker room with her purple towel in her right hand.

When she got the the pool she saw a lot of people on the bleachers and saw her parents, the twins and her boyfriend Derek in the front row.

Christy sat on the bench with her teammates and on the left side of the pool were the students at Cherrywood Middle School.

"Good Evening everyone and welcome to the 2020-2021 swim meet." said Mr. Parker

The crowd started clapping and cheering.

After a hour, Green Hill Middle School was in the lead and they needed one more point to win the swim meet.

"Now swimming for Green Hill Middle School is Christy Walker." announced Mr. Parker.

Christy jumped in the water as soon as the referees starting gun went off and started kicking her legs as hard as she could.

As soon as his girlfriend jumped in the water, Derek pressed the recording button on his cellphone and started recording her swim.

Christy swam as fast as she could.

Christy imagined saving Derek in the river and had to swim quickly in order to rescue him.

The buzzer went off as soon as Christy made it back to her podium.

"Christy Walker wins the swim meet for The Green Hill Middle School Blackbirds."

Christy climbed out of the pool and dried herself off with her towel.

The principal presented her with a gold medal and the reporters from the school paper started taking her picture.

After getting changed back into her clothes and blow drying her hair, Christy went to the bleachers and saw her parents, the twins and her boyfriend.

"We're so proud of you honey." said Mrs. Walker as she hugged her daughter.

"You were the fastest swimmer out of the other girls." said Mr. Walker.

 Christy hugged Derek and didn't care that his shirt was wet as she touched him.

"I'm so proud of you my little mermaid." said Derek

"Aww thanks honey you're my lucky charm." said Christy.

"You were awesome." said John as he gaved Christy a high five.

"Yeah you were the best." said Dawn.

"This calls for a celebration. Dinner at The Sock Hop Diner is on me." said Mr. Walker.

Everyone left the pool and got in The Walkers car.

Christy and Derek sat next to each other in the car and held hands on the way there.
