2. Why Train Anyway?

"Welcome to the training grounds, Future hero's. Here you will be..." Mr. Fischbach stopped for a moment and sighed. "Mr. Harris, what are you doing?"

I turned to see this overly chipper person running around chasing a rabbit.  I rolled my eyes and I looked around me. We were in this sort of... how to say woods. It's not just that though. That's only the first part of it. Obviously, this is meant to train and stress out multiple types of powers as well as the different discipline of magic simultaneously. Thus allowing us all to progress with our abilities whilst also figuring out our weaknesses and...

"Shit..." I gripped my head and frowned as my hands started to shake from the intense headache. Breath Caz... Just breath. Think... slower. "Ok then."

"Talking to yourself again, Freak." Great... I turned to see Roman standing there with a flame in his hand and I frowned. Not again... "What's wrong with your hands?"

"What?" He scoffed and the fire got brighter. "Oh, you mean besides the burns you made on them?"

"If they were burned you wouldn't be hiding them in your pockets, would you? It would be agonizing." He smiled but I cringed slightly. He is right... It does hurt. But I've dealt with worse. "So..."

"Why do you care, Roe?" His eyes went wide when I said his old nickname. "Pretty sure, you lost that right the moment you knocked me into the stream back in the fourth grade."

"You should watch your mouth, you powerless punk..." His eyes narrowed in confusion as his flame fizzled out. I just sighed, fixing my mask and tried to move away when Roman grabbed my arm. "Where do you think you're going?" I could feel my close start to freeze until it began to crack and chip. My eyes went wide and I pulled my arm from his grasp, causing my sleeve to nearly shatter. "CASSIDY!" I ran as fast as I could far away from everything. Thankfully I never changed so... I still had my heroes uniform. Nothing special... but the sleeves and gloves will work for now.

I made it all the way to the inner city area and I took a deep breath. Honestly, I wasn't exactly safe. Roman looked pissed. I worked my way into a building and locked myself in the bathroom before anything could really happen. I mean how embarrassing would it be to be caught with my pant's down in the middle of a battle. Mock... or not. And I do mean literally.

I stared at myself in the mirror when I was finished changing and frowned. Why did I even go along with this? I mean, a hero costume for the only person never going to be a hero. Why did the school choose me anyway? I pulled my hair back and tied it in a ponytail. I fixed my black gloves and sighed as my arm twitched. Twitch... yeah, that's a name I haven't heard for a while either.

The door burst open and I ran into one of the stalls just praying it wasn't Roman. I could hear two sets of footprints walk through the room before stopping right before my stall.

"Johnny are you sure we should be in here. It isn't exactly safe." I let out a deep breath hearing that voice. It's one of the few recognizable ones from class. One that Roman would definitely not associate with. It also means the other person is...

"Yes, sir. But only for a little bit. I am unsure what the lesson is in all this. Mr. Fischbach never gave any instructions. " Johnny Ghost and Johnny Toast. The paranormal duo that always hides out in the back of the room. Toast is a lycan with a psychic discipline. While Ghost... Well, no one really knows his discipline or his power. Toast never really gives him the chance to use it. Except for the occasional party tricks he would do every once and a while.

"Great so let's go. I'm sure Mark doesn't want us hanging in the bathroom all day."

"But sir..." I heard as they left, one clearly being dragged, and I collapsed. I just have to hide in here until Mr. Fischbach calls it all quits. I just have to...

I froze hearing the sound of the pipes creaking and I took a deep breath. I looked down into the toilet and my eyes went wide. The water was bubbling. Before I could do anything the pipes burst and I was forced through the roof of the building and into the air, only to be caught by another eruption of water. Think of those cartoons where the person is suspended in the air but this just large spray of water. It's in video games too. It can be used as a platform to move from one object to the next. However, it is often used to hinder the character and thus should be avoided lest you what to...

Damn it. I fell on to my knees gripping my head as the water slowly started to freeze underneath me. I glanced over the edge and frowned. Roman... He just stood there fixing his red leather biker gloves with this huge smile on his face.

"What's it like up there, Loser?" I groaned and his eyes narrowed. "Did you really think hiding in the bathroom was the safest idea? The safest idea would be to give up entirely. LEAVE!"

"Oh come now, Kiddo. There's no reason to be mean." I watched as the overly chipper man from earlier slowly walked out from behind Roman and I frowned. He didn't look so happy now. "After all, he is just stuck up there."
