Mali made the dinner a huge deal. Like a huge one.  She had me wear a nice outfit, and even a black tie to match the dark shirt.  She even offered to iron my clothes.

"Why are you making such a big deal about this?"  I asked her while I fastened my tie.  "Because Calum, first impressions matter!  Why are you so against going anyways?"  She asked me.  In response I blew air brim my mouth and shrugged.

Hazel must not have told her parents about anything that happened between us.  Which was good on my part.   As we both walked down the road to their house,  I begged to myself something would stop of from continuing.

We made it there, unfortunately.  Mali walked up and knocked five light knocks in their door. This time Hazel's father opened the door. "You must be Calum and Mali?" He said opening the door, and holding his hand out for us to shake.

After shaking his hand he led us into the familiar house. "Good evening guys! Oh Calum, you remember Hazel right? She'll be here for dinner tonight!" Hazel's mom said with a smile. "Would you like any help setting up dinner?" Mali offered.

Hazel's mom had everything set perfectly, and unfortunately for me, called Hazel down. She walked down the steps and when she saw me she stopped dead in her tracks.

She immediately went to sit at the furthest chair at the dining table. Mali and Hazel immediately befriended each other. For dinner it was spaghetti and meatballs and breadsticks on the side.

The dinner was one of the best I've ever had. "This dinner was delicious! Where did you learn to cook like this?" Mali questioned to Hazel's mom. "When I was in my 20s, I took a culinary internship in Italy. It was one of the best experiences I've lived!" That was actually shocking. I would never have guessed that.

All dinner Hazel acted like I wasn't there, like I wasn't a part of the dinner either. I knew that this is what I wanted but, for some reason it hurt. I couldn't stop thinking about her. Especially since we were at the same table.

After dinner me and Mali offered to help with the dishes and the cleanup. After that we left. Finally.
