"What do you mean they're not coming back?" I was shocked, but happy at the same time. A strange medley of feelings.

Mali spent the next hour explaining to me the drunken phone call she got from our parents. We knew it was serious because they don't call either of us. I couldn't tell if Mali was hurt, if she was it was well hidden.

"Okay but why'd you come all the way here to tell me this?" I questioned. "Well that's the thing, I'm moving in. I can't let my kid brother be off by himself..." she said crossing her arms. "Okay but what about college, and your social life, and your job?" I wanted to be by myself. The way my life was right now, I needed it. "As of today I can get another job, take online classes, and I'll figure everything else out." She shrugged.

"So why are you so bummed? Is it a girl?!" For some reason Mali was always excited for me to get a girlfriend. I'm not exactly sure why, she just was. "No it's just really complicated..."

Mali said she was going to head off to the store in half an hour to pick up groceries. We needed to fix the whole place really. She asked if I wanted to come and for some reason, I agreed to. I put on my black hoodie, which started to smell like Hazel a bit. I had to get this girl off of my mind.

We entered the store and I grabbed a basket. We made our way throughout the store when we got into the pasta isle. Mali and I were discussing what we should make for dinner. A lady walked past and bumped her basket into mine, making the items inside shuffle.

"Shit I'm sorry dear." She apologized. It was Hazel's mom...and I think she recognized me. God could this get any worse... "You're alright." I said back at her. "Calum? Is that you?" She asked. I nodded my head and chuckled. "And who's this?" She smiled and gestured to my sister.

"This is my sister, Mali." I introduced Mali to Hazel's mom. "Would you guys like to come over for dinner tonight?" She offered. Unfortunately my sister being the social and outgoing person she is, accepted the offer. She handed Mali the address and time.
