Hazel

Mom mom arrived from the store with slightly more groceries than we needed.  Why? "Honey we're going to be having guests over for dinner tonight. Isn't that fun?" She was always so happy.  "Okay but what's for dinner?"  I asked her.  "How about spaghetti and meatballs with garlic bread?" 

Mom taught me how to make the meatballs,  the way she learned on one of her internships.  "Like this Mom?"  She nodded her head and continued making the sauce.  Next it was the noodles, which we made last,  she perfected them to Al Dente. 

Everything was done and so I set the table.  I wasn't sure who it was she invited over, I never asked.  I went back up to my room to relax for as long as possible before our guests came over.  I lay down on my bed thinking about Calum. 

I knew that I shouldn't be bothered by the way he's been treating me, but it just kept making  its way in my thoughts.  I heard the doorbell ring and my parents talking with someone.  Eventually they called me down.  I mentally sighed not wanting to know who I'd be eating dinner with. 

I was practically down the steps until I saw Calum there with some girl.  Who the fuck was this?  Automatically I jumped to conclusions thinking this was a girlfriend of his.  A pang of jealousy shot through me.  They introduced her as Mali, his older sister.  Oh....

I sat at a seat at the end of the dinner table.  The further from Calum the better, right?  Throughout dinner I could feel Calum's burning glare on me.  I don't know why he was like this, he had no reason to be. 

Mali was really cool.  So much more wiser and adventurous.  We even exchanged numbers.  Eventually after they left, I went to take a shower, shave, lotion up,  face mask, and everything else self care.  Since my big decision, I've been feeling so great about myself.  I've never been this happy and pleased with who I've become. 

I was in the middle of reading a magazine when my phone buzzed, showing Mali's name and a text. I texted Mali for some time and she invited me to a party she was going to tomorrow. It seemed a little bit last minute to invite someone to a party. She begged me, so I agreed.
