Mali never calls me. Something had to have happened to make her call me. Whatever it was, it had to have been bad. I answered the phone and held it up to my ear. "Calum?..." she spoke softly with a crackle in her voice.
"What Mali?" I sighed. She hesitated to speak. Something was wrong. "I-I'm coming home. Somethings happened and I'm coming home. Tonight. I'll be there in a few hours." After that she hung up the phone. I knew it. I was right. Something happened.
I took a shower and made popcorn to snack on. I couldn't get Hazel off my mind. It was something about her new attitude. Someone knocked on my front door. Who the fuck is it? Can't be fucking Mali...
Hazel. I opened the door and there she was. HAZEL. Hazel. Why? "Why are you here?" I said folding my arms and leaning on the door frame. "This is yours. I figured you'd want this." She said with a smile that almost seemed bitchy. She held up my hoodie with her thumb and index finger, as if it was riddled with diseases.
I snatched my jacket from her fingers. She turned around and walked off with her new hair color flowing behind her. I waited until she was completely gone to go inside. I plopped down on the couch and gave a huge sigh...still holding it in my hand. I couldn't stop thinking about the whole scenario that just happened. It flooded my mind.
Hours past with me still in my thoughts. I heard Mali's car door shut. Next thing you know she was in the house. "Calum..." she called walking over to the living room. "Why are you sitting in the quiet like that?" She asked sitting down next to me.
I looked at her, rolled my eyes, and sighed. "Why are you here?" I asked back at her. She sighed. "Calum, there's something we need to talk about..." she continued. "M-..." she hesitated and stopped. She let out a deep sigh.
"Mom and dad-" Mali tried to continue but I stopped her. "Fuck Mal you know he's not our dad! Why do you keep calling him that?" I shouted at her. She raised her hands in defense. "Yeah, you're absolutely right...evidently..." she admitted. "...anyway Calum, they're not coming back." She leaned into the stained couch.
