Hazel
I was honestly scared for Calum. I knew he was hurt but how? Mentally? Clearly physically....
The night he knocked on the bakery window, I let him stay at my house. It wouldn't be right to let him go back to whatever did this. I set Calum up to sleep on my bed. I figured it would be a shit ton more comfortable than the living room couch.
As soon as I took the couch, I figured I shouldn't leave Calum alone while he's at risk. Seeing the way his head was bruised, he could've had a concussion, which was a horrible decision on my part. I grabbed the blanket I used and made my way upstairs.
When I got upstairs, Calum was knocked out cold. I never thought a person could sleep so hard. I rested on the beanbag chair I had in there that night.
The next morning I heard groaning, which I woke up to find Calum struggling to toss and turn. "Morning Calum. How do you feel?" I asked him. He shook his head, "I feel horrible..." I got up and left. I came back with an ibuprofen and a bottle of water. "Take this." I helped him sit up, and took the cap off the water. He took the 800mg pill and swallowed it down with water.
I left again going into the bathroom, coming back with gauze so I could re wrap Calums hand. I took the old bandages off, which revealed a lot of blood soaked tissues, and replaced them with new ones and a new ice pack.
"Why are you taking care of me like this?" He asked me. "Well...I don't exactly know. Maybe I care about you Calum." I went back and plopped down on my beanbag chair to face him. I got back up and went downstairs into the kitchen to grab frozen peas, which I had wrapped up in a thin towel.
"Hold this to your face, it's bruising terribly..." Calum looked awfully uncomfortable. "Would you tell me what happened if I asked?" I asked him, not trying to push out information he didn't want to talk about.
"Probably not..." He responded. "Do you think you'll be able to make it to school today?" Obviously not stupid. I asked while folding the blanket.
He nodded his head tiredly. "Yeah, of course." He answered. "Well Im going to take a shower and get dressed. If you need to use the bathroom, there's another one around the corner." I got up and dropped the blanket where I sat.
I came downstairs and picked up a brush to put my hair in a bun. "If you take a picture this image will last much longer." I said winking at me. Why are you so stupid and corny?
"Sorry..." Calum chuckled. As we left the house I locked the door and we were on our way.
