|~Your POV~|

Ydris and you had previously eaten dinner together. It's impressive how he never fails to amaze you, since he always finds a way to make the most normal things extra ordinary, even this dinner.

It was getting late and you decided that it'd probably be the best to head back to Valedale, the others are probably worried.

"Thanks for the amazing evening Ydris" You chuckled lovingly, causing Ydris' lips to form into a smile. "Anything for you, my love~" He responded, his voice sweet. No matter how much you wanted this moment to last, you opened your mouth and said "I should probably go, I'm sure my friends are worried"

Ydris slowly arose from his chair and you did the same, patiently awaiting his answer and wondering about his next actions. He walked over to you and leaned down, quickly closing the gap between the two of you. Heat rose to your cheeks and butterflies fluttred in your stomach at the sudden impact of his soft lips and yours.

After he pulled away he looked at you with loving eyes. "Have a safe ride home ma chérie~"

"I will, thanks" you smiled and placed a warm kiss on his cheek.

You went outside and saw [H/N] seemingly already waiting for you. You whistled to make him/her notice you. As soon as the noise was made, [H/N] came trotting over.

"Aren't you supposed to be asleep at this time deary?" He/She asked with curiosity and confusion. "Yeah, but we need to head back to Valedale" you whispered in a soft voice. "If we miss another meeting we're dead." You chuckled. "And I would have unsaddled you if I would have planned on sleeping here"

[H/N] gave an understanding nod and as soon as you mounted him/her you two dashed off into the cold autumn night.

--Time Skip--

You two decided to take a little detour on your back route and were now at the observatory, looking over Silverglade and it's beauty beneath the night sky.

"[Y/N]?" You heard [H/N] ask. You turned your head to look at his/her worried eyes. "Yes?" You asked, wondering what was nagging your horse's mind.

"Listen, I really don't want this to end in an argument again" he/she started "but the reason you're acting so strange recently..." You almost rolled your eyes, but instead found yourself understanding his/her worry.

"I confess, I have no idea" you swiftly cut [H/N] off. It's the truth. Of course you noticed your own mood swings and also tried your best to suppress them, but you never found a logical reason behind them inside your head.

[H/N] kept looking at you with concern, but eventually spoke up again. "Is it because of Fripp and his current state?"

You stiffened up in shock. Just as the words left [H/N]'s mouth you realized how true they were. The answer to the riddle was so obvious, yet burried in the dark, cold corners of your mind.

Your breathing became unsteady and quick as you relived the moment of Fripp getting hurt because of you.

All of a sudden you felt a stinging and burning sensation on your side and you put your hand on it, hoping it would sooth the pain. Your eyelids filled with water and you let out a pained groan.

"[Y/N]?!" [H/N] asked, a hint of panic in his/her voice. As you heard his/her voice the pain almost instantly went away. You turned your back to [H/N] again and looked over the railing.

"Yes..." you muttered ashamed and guilty. [H/N] took careful steps into your direction and rested his head on your shoulder, rubbing his/her warm cheek against your cold one.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to pry deary" He/She apologized. You let out a gentle chuckle and reached your hand back in order to stroke the soft fur on [H/N]'s neck. "It's okay. You're just worried, I understand that." You reassured your scared companion. "We should probably head back."

--Time Skip--

Just as you were done grooming and feeding [H/N] you heard someone speaking up behind you.

"It's pretty late, why are you still up?" I jumped in shock and abruptly turned on my feet to face a perplexed Luka standing in front of [H/N]'s stall.

"I-I... uhm..." You stammered and scratched the back of your neck, trying to find an excuse.

"You?" Luka insisted and lifted an eyebrow, showing his suspicion towards you. [H/N] inner smirk was palpable on your back.

"I was... I was on a late night ride. I have a lot on my mind recently. What about you?"

"Do you want to talk about it?" Luka asked as he leaned his elbows on the stall door. His eyes melted with concern and you felt almost shocked by his care towards you. You guys have known each other for only two days and he's already really sweet and kind to you.

You shook your head 'no' and gave him a reassuring smile. "It's nothing you should worry about." He seemingly didn't buy it because the concern in his eyes remained. You let out a sigh "We should go to sleep"

--Time Skip--

"[Y/N]!" Elizabeths strict voice echoed through the stone circle. You snapped out of your trance and your head shot up. "I-I'm sorry, what was that?"

"Did you even listen?" Alex teased in an amused tone. You rolled your eyes in annoyance at her and let your gaze hover back to Elizabeth's emerald eyes.

"[Y/N], if you wouldn't be outside until 2am you would have less trouble to follow the meetings"

You fell silent. A million words build up in the back of your throat as well as the annoyance in your chest, but perhaps it's the best thing to just stay quiet instead of giving her a snarky response you'll regret later.

"Let's carry on with the meeting"

....

After the meeting was over, Elizabeth asked for you to stay. The Soul Riders exchanged a few worried yet curious glances and left the stone circle.

She motioned for you to dismount [H/N] and you followed suit. Cautiously, you walked up to Elizabeth to hear what she has to say.

"[Y/N], you've been worrying us lately. What's wrong?" I swear, the next one to ask me this question--!

"Elizabeth, I'm fine, really" You fake smiled at her. She let out a sigh and placed a hand on my shoulder "If you feel the urge to talk, I'm here okay?" You smiled greatfully and felt your negative emotions wash away like dirt beneath water.

Elizabeth pulled you into a soft hug. She was so gentle, as if you were made of glass. You wrapped your arms around her and sighed mildly into Elizabeth's shoulder. "Thanks..." You mumbled.

Elizabeth let out a desperate breath and pulled away.

"[Y/N], I have bad news I'd like to talk about with you and the others."
