CHAPTER LI
September
Being a mum for the first time was a terrifying but an amazing ride.
Sleep became less but happiness was full to the brim and overflowing.
Chance has been the most amazing son I could ever ask for. Sure the timing wasn't like I imagined but it was the unexpectedness of it all that made everything amazing.
Like what I said before, the unexpected things were always the best.
These past five years has brought everything to me. Laughter, sadness, joy, frustration, nervousness, all of it was felt these past years but one look at my son, everything vanished and all I could feel was happiness.
The first month was the hardest. I always wake up in the middle of the night because of his cries and he would go on and on even though I already fed him, burped him, and checked his diaper.
The three things Rosie learned in the movie Love, Rosie was suddenly remembered as I cried for the first time with him the first month. He wouldn't stop crying that all I could do was cry.
I didn't have to worry about waking up my parents because their rooms were farther down the hall but they have knocked a couple of times to check how I was and how the baby was.
I visit my parents at least once a month to see how their doing and of course to let them bond with Chance, Gemma also comes with his boyfriend, Michael who has immediately bonded with my son.
Harry has been the best, always coming down to check up on baby Chance. He comes at least twice a month to see Chance who grew fond instantly of his curly head. Chance calls him Uncle Haz and he calls him Loucas, the name he gave him.
Niall also has been the best friend I could ever ask for. He even moved to Cardiff for us and started opening up a tattoo shop even though he's still a tattoo-free lad. He said that being with the gang and my brother taught him how in tattoos are.
He lived five minutes from where we lived and was always there when I had to run a late night shift at the hospital.
I was in my 4th year of medical school and I was getting excited to becoming a doctor. I will practice my residency when I graduate on May and was currently interning at a hospital.
Chance had just entered Kindergarten and imagine my fear when he told me he wanted to ride the bus on his own now. I was still denial of the fact that my baby boy was growing up.
"Mum! Mum! Look who's in the telly!" Chance screamed as I make my way through the door with a bag of groceries in my arm. We just went back from the store and the moment we were home, he opened the telly.
Chance grabbed my hand the moment I set down the groceries on top of the counter and dragged me to the living room where the sports channel was on.
He was as beautiful as I remembered.
Louis' face was staring back at me on the TV as someone interviews him. I couldn't tell if his hair was shorter or longer as it falls in a fringe over his forehead.
"I want to be like him someday, Mummy." Chance gushed as he stared at the TV in awe. For a five year old, he speaks very well and I was proud that I taught him well. "Do you think I could meet him someday?"
"Maybe." My voice was barely above a whisper as I have one of those moments.
Chance has been a fan of Louis ever since he knew of him which was almost a year now. Niall and Harry have been gearing Chance up to play footie and the first player he idolized was of course, his father.
