CHAPTER LXXIII

May

"Mum, when are you coming home?" Chance asked as I took him to the ice cream shop.

"When you're in a stressful environment, you sometimes need to breathe. But I'll be home soon, I promise." I grinned as we ordered our usual ice cream.

I have been staying at Niall's house for the past four days; he didn't have any problem with it, knowing I needed it.

It included a lot of lecture from him, telling me why I need to get out of my own house when I could just kick out Eleanor but of course, I explained her situation.

Louis hasn't contacted me since I left and honestly, I am not surprised but that doesn't mean that I'm not hurt about it. It seems like he's standing his ground in believing Eleanor and if that's what he wants then I'll give it to him.

I don't even want to know what's going on in the house. I know Louis wouldn't do that to me, but I know the past Louis wouldn't, not the present one. I don't know what's going on his head anymore, if he wants to be with Eleanor, I just moved to Manchester for nothing.

"Want to go home now, love?" I asked Chance as we walked beside each other, enjoying the somewhat warm weather.

"Not yet, Dad's just going to lock himself up in his room then go to that woman's room when she screams dad's name. Nobody pays attention to me anymore." He said quietly and I halted, leaning down to meet his height.

"Do you want me to go home, love?" I asked softly brushing away a strand of hair that fell to his forehead.

"I want to but you said you needed to breathe, mum." He pressed his lips in a thin line.

"I do but if you want me to go home now, then I would."

"Uncle Niall said you needed time for yourself and I don't want you to go home just because you feel sorry for me because dad's not giving me attention anymore." He pouted and I knelt down and hugged him.

"I don't feel sorry for you, love. I want to go home but you know." I frowned before pulling away.

"Can I stay with you and Uncle Ni?" HE asked, tears threatening to spill from his eyes. "I don't want to stay at our house anymore."

"Oh, love." I cooed as I wipe away the stray tear that fell from his eyes. "I'll see what I can do, yeah?"

"Do you promise?" He questioned his voice small. I nodded hastily then ruffled his hair.

We ended up watching a movie at Niall's while he was out making arrangements for the record shop since he's opening in a few days. My eyes were slowly drooping but Chance's sudden question, startled me awake.

"Mum, do you think dad still loves us?"

"Of course, my love." I said as I sat up straighter. "Why do you ask that?"

"It's just, he's choosing that woman over you and when the baby comes, he's going to choose the baby over me." He said quietly as he fiddled with his fingers.

"What?" I asked in disbelief. I couldn't believe he would said that since nobody said about choosing anyone over anyone. "Where did you get that?"

"I remember when we first met that woman; she said she was dad's fiancée. I didn't know what that was so I asked Auntie Lottie what it was and she said it's someone you're going to marry. You marry someone you love, right? So daddy loves that woman, but then he asked you to marry him. You can only marry one, right? So daddy loves you but if he does love you then why is he with that woman now instead of us?" He questioned and I was in awe at how smart Chance was even though his statement was quiet upsetting for your ten year old to know.
