CHAPTER XL
October
"You have to tell me who you're going as tonight." Niall demanded at me staring straightly at my eyes. Perrie and he were bugging me because they didn't want to go overboard. But Louis and I decided we will keep it as a secret, even though my friends have been pointing out the similarities between him and the fictional character for ages.
"I am not telling anything." I pretended to zip my mouth and throw away the key.
"I hate you."
"You can never hate me." I giggled smacking him in the arm playfully.
"True but-." He began to said but stopped as he looked behind me.
I felt a pair of arms snaked around my waists and the laugh that followed gave away who it was. Placing a kiss to my cheek, he sat down beside me and started bringing out his lunch.
"Hi- what happened to you?" I asked him once I started to fully take in his appearance. His hair was disheveled, and he was sweating like a pig despite the cold Manchester air and he was slightly panting.
"I ran here." He grinned.
"From where?" I asked him munching on my salad.
"The arena." He quietly said now avoiding my eyes.
"What? That's like 10 minutes away by car." I frowned, scrunching my eyebrows together.
"I-." He began to explain but was cut off by Zayn hollering his name.
"Loueh!" I couldn't help but grin at them as they did their handshake. They had returned to their normal relationship, them picking at each other constantly. "Glad to see you."
Oh, yes. Ever since the incident, Louis has been more, how do I put this- present. He has been showing up at least once a day to see me or his friends and I was happy he was trying but I couldn't help but notice he always seemed tired but when I asked him about it, he only brushed it off, claiming he was okay and that practice was killing them.
Even though he has been out of the team and passed being captain to Liam, he claimed that he has been spending more hours at the arena since it was almost football season.
"Who're you going as tonight?" I rolled my eyes playfully at Perrie who has joined us.
Sadly, Danielle and Liam has been absent for the past days because Liam was adjusting to being captain and had to make a few arrangements with his schedule as a student and athlete while Danielle is taking care of her grandmother who is really ill.
"Goodbye Perrie." I said as I gathered my things.
"Leaving so soon? I just got here, babe." Ah, babe, it made my heart melt every time it rolled out of Louis tongue.
"Yeah, I have to be in the hospital in 10 minutes, my internship is ending in a few weeks and it's going to be hectic." I stated as I stood up.
Louis pouted his lips, clearly asking for a kiss and I rolled my eyes at his childishness but kissed him nonetheless.
"I love you." He whispered before we pulled away, him letting go of my hand slowly as I started to walk away.
"I love you too, see you later!" I said before turning around and walking away.
"Why can't we be adorable like that?" I heard Perrie said earning a laugh from the boys and me, quietly giggling to myself.
-
"Coming!" I shouted as I heard a knock on the door.
I was a bit nervous since Louis has a shitty track record of standing me up, but the knock on the door proved me otherwise. He was really trying.
