CHAPTER LXXIV
May
"I'm going to walk you to your office." Louis said while pecking my lips with a teasing grin.
"You don't have to." I giggled as I tried to retrieve my hand from his hold.
"Yes, I do. You're a hot thirty-one year old and someone like *coughs* Chris *coughs* will hit you up. I'm here to show them that you aren't in any way, available."
"Louis." I laughed but he was dragging me down the hall to my office already.
We walked hand in hand to my office until I clocked in. he was pretty serious about this and eventually we saw Chris on the way back to my office.
"Good morning Dr. Styles." He nodded, eyeing Louis before disappearing to go inside a patient's room.
"I can't wait until they call you Dr. Tomlinson." He whispered and as soon as we were inside my office, he gave me a long kiss, making me remember why I was addicted to his kisses. They were like alcohol to an alcoholic; a drug to a drug addict, except his kisses weren't doing anything to me, just pure bliss.
"I love you; remember to pick Chance up, yeah? I'm working until eight." I reminded him and he rubbed my shoulders comfortingly before kissing my forehead. "You're going to help Eleanor move in with Fizzy, right?"
"Yes, just for a bit, I'm heading to practice before the big game later. They're letting me play for the first time since my injury and it's kind of a big deal since its finals." He said and I gasped in surprise and happiness as I put on my lab gown above my white button up and black slacks.
"That's great! Why didn't you tell me?"
"They just called me last night. It's later at six, I hope you could come and watch but I know you're working." He smiled softly before leaning down a bit to give me a kiss, again. But I didn't mind like I said, it was addicting. "I got to go, also I called Niall if he could watch Chance for me since I'm only leaving for a few to pick him up, he's bringing him to the record shop so you can just pick him up there. I love you."
The last sentence caused me to grin so wide I thought my cheeks were going to tear before biting my lip and went to work.
The hospital was busy. The ER was swarming with new patients every ten to twenty minutes and it must be because of the heat even though it wasn't that hot, people here aren't accustomed to it so most of them had asthma attacks, heat rash, heat stroke but I got one patient who fell down the stairs and broke her arm.
By three o'clock, I was tired that it felt like my feet were going to separate from my legs since I was walking and jogging to every room, trying to attend to the patients as quickly as I could.
As I went to the vending machine to grab a bottle of water, Dr. Colby, the head physician and the one who manages us all, went up to me.
"Dr. Styles, can we talk for a minute?" She asked with a soft smile and I nodded rapidly before taking my water out and she put a hand on my shoulder. She was a tall woman with graying hair and piercing blue eyes. "Will your office be fine?"
Again, I nodded, too nervous to talk since people around here talk highly about her and I didn't know if this was good or bad news.
"Ah, homey." She commented before sitting down on one of the white couches. "Come, sit."
I shyly sit a comfortable distance from her and she turned to face me, clasping her hands together before starting.
"Don't be nervous, I don't bite and you will probably be happy in what I'm about to tell you." She smiled warmly before tapping my hand lightly, which was settled on my lap. "I've been observing you for quite a while now, and I must say you are quite the doctor."
