CHAPTER XXIX

December

"Mom, you have to let me go. We're planning on getting there before lunch and with you holding me back, we might not make it."

"I'm sorry, love. It's just- this is all making me emotional. You, getting a boyfriend, spending the holidays with him here and you meeting his parents, you really have grown." My mom dabbed her eyes with a napkin as we stood at the driveway of our house. "I'm so proud of you love. The grades, being independent, the boyfriend, the gig and everything; it makes me happy that I raised such a good woman."

"Thank you mom." I hugged her.

"He's a keeper, sweetie. I hope you bring him back on your birthday." My mom smiled, Harry and I already planned celebrating our birthday here to lessen the hassle for my parents travelling. "Update me with what happens, if they like you and things. I know they will like you, if they are the people who raised Louis then I'm sure they'll love you."

"Okay mom. Stop stalling me, it's almost 10. It's a two hour drive." I said and she hugged me one last time tighter than her previous hugs.

"I love you Vee."

"I love you too, mom." I smiled. "Louis, let's go!"

"So your boyfriend said goodbye to me, but my sister wouldn't?" Harry said as he emerged from the front door.

"Not my fault you like him better now." I playfully stuck my tongue out at him.

"Come here." He chuckled. I thought he was going to hug me but he lifted me up and threw me over his shoulder which made me shriek and pound gently on his back.

"Harry! Let me down!" I laughed as he ran through our long driveway back and forth.

"I just wanted to do that before you get 'too old' for my liking." He smiled at me after he let me down, but I knew he meant it in a total different way.

"Oh, Harry." I wrapped my arms around his neck, causing us both to stumble which made us laugh. "I love you and I am never going to be too old for you."

"I love you too and you probably will." He chuckled and shook his head. Our eyes snapped to my mom and Louis who was laughing at something and I smiled at how hard my mom was letting him go like she did to me. "He loves you Vee. He's just afraid to tell you because you might not feel the same, well he didn't tell me this but I could tell. I know you do too; you just aren't sure because this is your first time. Just, be careful okay? I may like him but it doesn't mean I'm not going to beat the shit out of him."

"Harry." I said, my eyes watering at how I'm going to miss him so much and his statement. I couldn't find the words to say so I just hugged him one more time. "Call me okay? I expect at least one call from you every week."

"Make that a Skype call and you got yourself a deal." He kissed my forehead before walking towards my parents and Louis.

"Little Vee." My dad chuckled as he opened his arms towards me making me practically throw myself at him.

"I'm going to miss you guys so much." I said as I buried my face into his chest.

"We're going to miss you too so much, little Vee. Last year, you and Harry were home almost every weekend. Now, the house is quieter, we're thinking about adopting a dog." He chuckled.

"I'm sorry, dad."

"I know you're busy, with studies and all that." He smiled as we pulled away. "Just give us a call every now and then, yeah? Your mom misses you guys so much that she buries herself with work."
