CHAPTER XLII
November
It was nearing the end of November and Louis and I still aren't in the best terms.
He tried calling the first few days, started coming over and knocking on my door for hours until he finally gave up or my dorm mates has kicked him out.
The weight of what I did was still heavy in my chest as I walked towards the usual diner I go to.
It was likely that I see one of my friends here but I was craving for a burger and a milkshake.
I didn't expect to see all of them in our usual booth as I walked in and when I say all of them, I meant all of them, even Niall, even him.
It didn't upset me that they didn't invite me. I guess they finally gave up after each of them has called me to hang out but I politely declined since school works was eating me up, even the internship that I have a love-hate relationship with.
The surprise was evident in their eyes as I met Perrie's blue eyes first, then Zayn, Niall, Liam and finally, Louis. I tried to look down but I can't. My eyes were glued to his and I forget I was standing there until someone had to enter the diner and bumped into me.
I muttered my apology and made my way to them. They all went quiet, an opposition of what I walked in.
"Hey." I said waving my hand awkwardly before shoving them into my coat pocket.
"Hi, Vee." Niall said, smiling brightly at me. I loved how welcoming his eyes were even though he too, was pushed away by me.
"Can I?" I gestured to the empty seat beside Niall, across from Louis. I can feel his eyes burning through me but I refused to meet his.
"Of course." Perrie said, beaming at me.
They all seemed happy but surprised and they were like threading on thin ice.
"How are you, Vee?" Liam started, making a conversation as he said the words gently.
"I'm okay. Uni's kicking my arse and the internship is becoming intense." I said with a tight-lipped smile.
Niall motioned for the waitress and I gave my orders.
"In a few years, we'll have a doctor in our gang." Liam chuckled, shaking his head.
"In a couple of years." I corrected with a shake of my head.
"Yeah, I forgot med school can be a drag." Liam said while rolling his eyes.
"When you become a doctor, can you give me prescription drugs?" Zayn joked making Perrie smack his arm. "I'm joking!"
"You-." I started to say but I was cut off.
"Can we talk?" Louis said, surprising us all. He had been silent in the 15 minutes that I was here and his voice startled us all.
He got up and walked towards the direction of the exit and I mumbled that we'll be back as I followed him.
He entered his car and I got in the passenger seat nervously.
"Venus, what's happening with us?" He said almost immediately as soon as I closed the door.
"I don't know." I mumbled staring in front of me, refusing to look at his eyes.
"Look at me." He pleaded softly and I took a deep breath before getting lost in his eyes. "Tell me what to do."
"I don't know." I mumbled again.
"Please." He pleaded, his voice shaking.
"I really don't know." I said, getting lost more and more in his eyes.
