CHAPTER LVIII

December

"Well, I don't know what to tell you lad." Louis laughed as he ate popcorn with Chance while I sort out my files from my office.

They went quiet, only the sound coming from the television was heard from the living room and I peered at them and saw they were engrossed at the replay of a football match.

"Can I call you dad, now?" Chance asked him after a while. My ears perked up to what Louis would say and I paused what I'm doing to listen in.

"If you want, yeah. Unless you want to call me Papa or anything, whatever you prefer." Louis said softly, making my heart melt at his words.

"Dad is okay. I call Mum, Mum and I want you to match, because she's my mum and you're my dad. It wouldn't be right to call you Papa and her, mum, unless she wants me to call her Mama too." Chance explained as hard as a ten year old would explain.

"Yeah, yeah. I get it." Louis sounds so happy; I didn't have to see him to know he's smiling.

Again, quietness consumed both of them as they watch the sports channel. I checked the time and saw it was nearly midnight so I gathered all of my things and decided Chance should sleep or else he'll be asleep all day tomorrow.

"Baby." I spoke as I entered the living room.

"Yes?" Both of them snapped up and my cheeks reddened at Louis' reply. He soon realized I was referring to Chance which made him bite his lip awkwardly.

"Um, Chance, come on, it's time to sleep, love." I said, masking the awkwardness I have initiated.

"Okay." He nodded and stood up, rubbing his eyes. "Will dad stay?"

"You have to ask him, hun." I said, looking at Louis.

"Dad, can you stay?" Chance's voice was dripping with tiredness as he looked at Louis with sleepy eyes.

"If it's okay with your mum." Louis said as he looked at Chance before looking at me. "But I don't have any clothes."

"Mum, is it okay if dad stayed?"

"Yes, of course, baby." I nodded before looking at Louis. "Harry and Niall sometimes leave clothes here and they never remember to get it back, I'm sure they won't mind."

"That would be great." Louis smiled.

"Good night mum." Chance kissed my cheek before hugging Louis. "Good night dad."

We both stared at Chance, who claims he doesn't need tucking anymore since he's 'basically a teen', as he went up the stairs. After I heard his door shut, I turned to Louis who was looking at me.

"Um, I'll get the clothes and prepare the guest room for you." I said softly before going up to my room as well.

I* found one of Niall's basketball shorts and one of his shirts as well; I keep Niall's clothes and Harry's in a different drawer so I don't have to guess which one of them is theirs if they decide to get their belongings back.

"Hey." I greeted Louis after I placed the clothes on the bed of the guest room. "The guest bedroom has its own bathroom so you can change and do your thing while I fix up the bedroom for you."

He nodded and I began walking up the stairs when I remembered that he had a broken ankle.

"Um." I mumbled awkwardly as I wrap my arm around his torso, the connection making sparks fly through my body. He gripped my hand that wasn't placed on his waist so tightly that I was afraid that it was going to break. "Does it still hurt?"
