CHAPTER LX

December

"Mum, can we go to the mall?" Chance asked as he munched on his munchkin, the crumbs falling on his white shirt. "I'm bored."

"Sure, I need to buy daddy's family presents as well. Just let me change and we'll go." I said as I stood up from the couch, stretching a little bit since we've been cooped up in the living room for half of the day already. "You should change too into something warm."

"Can dad come with us?" He asked, making me stop from climbing the stairs and tilting my head to look at him better.

"I don't know hun. I'll call and ask but no promises, he might be busy." I said, already dialing his number. He answered in the fourth ring, making me wonder what he was doing. "Hey, Lou, are you doing something today?"

"Hello to you too, Vee." Louis chuckled before answering my question. "Nope. I just finished doing my laundry, why?"

"I hope you're not overworking yourself. You're cast is about to go off in a week if you keep not putting weight on your foot." I scolded, the doctor in me surfacing.

Louis chuckled, once again, before talking. "I know Vee. I kind of wish you're telling me because you're concerned not because you're my doctor."

"Who says I'm not concerned?" I said quickly before I can even stop myself. I tried to mask what I said with a simple joke. "I mean, we're friends and it's kind of getting hard assisting you around the house."

"Well, in that case I'm putting weight on my foot; in fact, I'm kicking the wall right now. I kind of like having your arms around me." My heart melted at his words, my body halting as I stood in front of the mirror.

"Maybe I like having you in my arms." I bit my lip, waiting for his response but he just chuckled, making me frown but I shook it off as I turn the speaker on to go change. "Well, um, the reason why I'm calling is Chance was wondering-we were wondering if you like to go with us to the mall? I understand if you want to, considering your foot is still healing and there's a chance you'll get recognized. It's totally okay if you say no but Chance-we want you-."

"Vee! I'll go!" Louis laughter boomed from the speaker and echoed around my room, making me smile. "You still ramble when you're nervous."

"It's kind of a hard to kill habit." I said as I put on my black skinny jeans.

"You're still my old Vee." He said nonchalantly as if he wasn't supposed to say that and my assumption was correct when he corrected himself. "I mean, you're still the old Vee I know."

"I am." I said, biting my lip that was attempting to form into a grin. "I'll pick you up in twenty. See you, Lou."

I hung up, not bothering to wait for his reply.

The way my heart still beat fast whenever I talk to him is so nostalgic that I find myself thinking if I'm back in my sophomore year at MU.

It's unbelievable that my heart still belongs to one person, the only person that ever had it. He never gave it back but I wasn't complaining.

They say your first love, great love and your true love are three different persons. But I beg to differ.

My first love ended up being my great love. No matter how our relationship ends, I'll consider him my greatest love, since he gave me, my Chance and he gave me an epic love story that I'll probably tell my grandkids no matter if their grandfather ends up not being Louis.

"Mum!" Chance interrupted me from my daydreaming. "I'm ready to go, is dad coming?"

"Yes." I nodded as I put on my black vans, my guilty pleasure since I like pairing up with Chance even if it's just shoes. I instantly smiled when I saw his little feet clad in similar shoes to mine. "We'll pick him up in ten."
