CHAPTER LII
Last week of November
"Mum, where are we going to spend Christmas?" My 10-year-old son Chance said as he grabbed an apple of off the fruit basket and attempted to bite it.
"Chance Loucas Styles, what did I tell you about eating snacks before dinner?" I sternly said as I stirred the sauce of the pasta I was making. "And we'll be spending it in Holmes Chapel."
"Yes! I'm excited to see Uncle Haz; he always gives me snacks after midnight."
"Thank you for telling that to me." I snickered, knowing he didn't intend on saying it but he was always honest with me.
"Uncle Haz is going to kill me." Chance said as he took a seat at the counter. "Mum, how many years older are you than Uncle Haz?"
"Baby, we're twins." I laughed. "And he's older than me by 7 minutes."
"What?" He exclaimed as he leaned against the countertop with his elbows. "But you always seem to scold him when he does something, shouldn't you be afraid of him or something because he's older?"
"Your uncle is childish and acts like a ten year old more than you should." I chuckled as I brought two plates out and put the noodles on both. "He's a child at heart and he will always be."
"Yep, he's too energetic for a fifty year old." He laughed making me widen my eyes at him.
"Chance, we're both 30-year olds, not fifty. Wait, do I look like a fifty-year old to you?" I furrowed my eyebrows and dropped the spatula I was holding.
"I was joking mum, you don't look like a fifty year old, but I can't say much about Uncle Niall though." He laughed and threw his head back making me wonder if this was my son or I was time travelling and saw a young Louis sitting there instead of Chance.
"He's going to kill you when he hears you say that." I said seriously before laughing with him and serving us both plates of pasta and started eating.
Niall has been trying to grow out a beard and Chance has teased him ever since he tried.
"I don't want you picking me up from football practice anymore." He said seriously after a while.
"What? Why?" I pouted as I stopped eating.
"Because!" He exclaimed before lowering his voice that I couldn't catch what he was saying.
"What?"
"My friends always tell me that I'm lucky to have such a 'hot' mum." He said, his face scrunching up on the word 'hot'. "It's annoying. And it doesn't help the fact that you're a doctor. I even heard some of my friends' dads say they wish you were their wife and something along the lines of 'I would tap that'."
My eyes widened at what he was telling me before I burst out into fits of laughter.
"Mum! It's not funny." He mumbled as he ate the remains of his pasta. "It's annoying. You're my mum and they shouldn't talk about you like that and the dads that said that has wives, how disgusting is that?"
"Well, okay." My laughter died down before I cleared my throat. "You're right. That is wrong, love. And okay, I'll see what Uncle Niall can do and will only pick you up from practice if he can't, okay?"
He nodded and drank his water before asking me if we could watch a movie.
"Okay, let me change out of my clothes first." I said before checking if the doors were locked and went up to my room to wash all of the dirt of Cardiff's sick patients off of me.
