CHAPTER LVII
December
I was lucky enough that Chance was still star struck by Louis, so he bombarded Louis with questions and stories throughout the car ride.
I can see Louis chuckling as he sat on the passenger seat, Chance's head poking from between us as he talk to Louis. I was just glad that they were getting along.
My house came into view, the white two-story building becoming my safe haven for the last 5 years with a loan from my parents that I'm slowly paying back.
The car went into a halt, me rushing out of my car to help Chance and the disabled Louis out of the car.
We were met by silence as we entered my house and I was thankful that I clean my house on the daily basis.
"Um, you can put your coat over there." I pointed to the rack besides Louis.
"I want to talk, now." He demanded, making me breathe out a long sigh as I turned towards Chance.
"Chance, can you take a bath now and after that please stay in your room. Louis and mummy has some things to talk about." I said carefully as I lead Louis towards the living room. "You can say goodbye to Louis, later."
I can hear Chance's room shutting a few moments after he nodded and went to his room.
"Tell me everything, no lies Vee." Louis ordered, he was impatient but I guess that's understandable. "Right from the start."
"I... um, I didn't cheat on you." I started slowly, my words coming out in a whisper. "I just said that so that you'd leave me."
"Why? Why did you tell me that?" He shook his head disbelievingly. "Tell me, why did you hide from me that you have my son for ten years!"
"I... I went crazy without you Vee. I went mad trying to think of reasons why you left me, why you cheated on me and why you decided to throw us away. I know I was busy with being in the team but we promised each other, we promised that we would hold on. So why didn't you?" He started, his voice wavering at the end. "I wish you just cheated because this is insane."
"Hiding my son from me for ten fucking years, what were you thinking Vee?" He snarled, angry tears coming out from my eyes. "I missed out on ten years of his life and it wasn't even my fault! You deprived me from being a father to my son that I didn't even fucking know until an hour ago!"
"I'm sorry." I breathed out, tears threatening to fall from my eyes but I tried to stop them, I was in no place to cry.
"I don't know what to bloody feel." He rubbed his face with his hands before turning towards me again. "Why did you do it? Because you thought I couldn't be a father? You know I could've easily left the team to support you and my son!"
"I know that! That's why I did what I did!" I screamed back, realizing that my son-our son was upstairs and I didn't want him to hear any of this so I lowered my voice. "That's why I hid it from you. All of this, I did it for you."
"For me? How can keeping my son from me benefit me?" He grimaced as he pointed towards himself. "I need a fucking cigarette."
He then limped towards the sliding glass doors that led out to the backyard. I watched him open it before closing it back then took a seat on the top stair.
I breathed out a huge sigh before letting out the tears that were being held back. I knew he would be mad, I mean who wouldn't. I let it all out before deciding to follow him and at least explain my side before he decides to hate me.
My hands gripped the handle of the door for a second before I let out a huge breath and step into the cold winter air. It was slowly turning dark, the gray skies suddenly reflecting what we both feel at this moment.
