CHAPTER L
June
He came really unexpectedly.
I wasn't due until the second week of July so when my water broke in the middle of Klaus giving Caroline her graduation gift, I thought I peed myself.
My hands search frantically for my phone, my fingers dialing Harry's number before I let out a hurdling scream of pain. Of all days, I have given Grace the day off.
The ringing went on and on before I cursed and dialed my parents number but neither of them were answering and so was my sister. I dialed Niall's number too but just like my family, it was left unanswered.
"Fuck." I said to myself. "I guess I'm driving myself to the hospital."
I let out a huge puff of air as I held on to the arm rest of the couch to support myself in standing up. The pain was unbearable and the only thing that kept me going was 'I do not want to give birth in the middle of the living room'.
"999, what's your emergency?"
"Hi. I'm about to give birth and I am alone." I said the first thing on my mind.
"Okay ma'am, what's your address?"
I gave the operator my address quickly and she told me the ambulance would be here in 5 minutes.
Seems like 5 minutes is equivalent to forever as I tried to calm myself with deep breaths, good thing I'm a medical student.
I let out a huge puff of air as I held on to the arm rest of the couch to support myself in standing up. The pain was unbearable and the only thing that kept me going was 'I do not want to give birth in the middle of the living room'.
The ambulance was taking so long that I had moved myself from the couch to my front porch, not wanting to waste any time in the medics rushing in of my house. Might as well be waiting for them in the front porch, right?
The blue and red light seemed unnoticed in the day light if it weren't for the loud sirens that indicated there was an ambulance coming. I let out a huge sigh of relief as they pulled in front of my house and I literally threw myself on the stretcher as they pulled it up.
My mind was hazy as I answered the medics' questions, I don't even remember what they asked me but I was sure I gave an answer.
I was about to pass out from the exhaustion and pain but someone was telling me not to, repeatedly in my ears.
My phone rang from my hand as they were wheeling me to the emergency room and I stiffened when Louis' name flashed through the screen.
My fingers absent mindedly swiped to answer the call and I cursed myself for not thinking clearly. I mean, give me a break, I'm giving birth.
I felt a sharp pain shoot across my body, I didn't know where the pain was but all I knew was that it hurts.
"Hello?" I grumbled through the phone.
"Vee! Vee!" Niall's voice rang through the speaker and I was confused to why he's using Louis' phone.
"Niall! Fuck!" Another surge of pain shot through me yet it still hasn't been five minutes. "Please come here, I'm about to give birth and no one is answering!"
"Bloody hell! Okay! Okay!" I heard shuffling before the line ended. The pain was consuming my mind and body that I didn't even thought about asking why he was using Louis' phone.
The labor pains were unbearable that I didn't know what I was feeling.
"How are you?" My OB said and I wanted nothing more than to slap her.
