CHAPTER 12: Camping out

Jack POV

I used my hand to stand up from the rock when I noticed something, the place where I had touched was now covered in frost. I looked at Nattie once more and instead of her warm and loving face it was paley blue.

I stood up and went to go touch a tree nearby and when I did, frost cover the part I had touched, it was then when I found out why she was cold- I quickly ran to her and was about to pick her up when I realised that touching her was what caused this.

I took the fire cracker out of my pocket as quickly as I could to avoid it from freezing but before I could shoot it up it froze. I thew it on the ground in frustration and began contacting dad to warn mom, "Yeah, Jacques I will tell your mom what happened." Dad said in my head.

"B-but dad how do I take her to where mom is, right know I can't seem to touch anything without freezing it?" I questioned. "Um, here's an idea. Just quickly lift her up and teleport her to the bus and try to keep her warm until your mom reaches." He said and I nodded.

I walked up to Nattie and picked her up and teleported to the bus. I ran into the bus and placed her on the bed quickly covering her up with all the blankets I could find so she could get warm. I waited for a few seconds and it felt like mom was taking to long to reach, so I went outside of the bus and materialised snow bird to find them.

One of the snow birds spotted Percy and mom running in this direction so I teleported right in front of them and took each of their hands and teleported back to the bus. "What ha-" mom was about to say something but then she suddenly gazed at her hand and I followed her gaze and saw her hand turning blue, then she looked at me. I then realised something and looked at Percy, and he looked at his hand and it was doing the same thing.

Mom walked toward me but I raised my one hand in protest, "Mom don't touch me, what happened to Nattie might happened to you." I said sadly but she came close to me and touched my cheek, "Percy can you quickly go see the condition of Nattie." She said and Percy did as he was told. I watched her arm closely so I could pull it away as soon as the thing began spreading, to my surprise nothing happened, she held me by the biceps but nothing happened to her.

She slid down and when she touched my palm the blueness started to spread and I immediately backed away since I could not even touch her. She sat me on the couch and removed my shoe and sock. She lifted my jeans from the ankles up till my knees, and began travelling down but nothing happened. She then took my feet and placed them on her palm then the blueness spread up till her elbow and I pulled away and immediately put on my sock but when I did that, they froze solid. So out out of frustration I took off the other shoe and sock of the other foot and stood up.

Mom was looking at my feet and I too looked and saw the frost was spreading on the floor so I made myself float so that my feet would not touch the ground. "I am going to look for dad." I said then teleported to where one of the snow birds had found them. They too were running when I teleported in front of them, "Jack what happened, Christie lit a fire cracker?" Aunt Sally asked. "Both of you hold my shoulder." I commanded and they did as told. We all teleported inside the bus where we found mom removing the blankets I had placed Nattie under.

"Is she warm yet, I asked mom and she gave me a scared look, "Come feel and see if it was any different from when you placed her under the blankets." She said and I walked toward where Nattie was, I placed my arm on her arm while avoiding contact with my palm. "Her temperature has not dropped." I said sadly.

"Jack what was going on when you started freezing everything you touch." Mom asked and everybody placed their attention on me, "Well I was very sad and had a heavy heart because I was visually showing Nattie everything- with eyes closed. So it was like trip down memory lane." I answered. "Oh no, I should have known." Mom said as she realised something.
