CHAPTER 30: A day at Atlantis

Nattie POV

Everybody was playing cards with dice, and there were drachmas coins on the table which they were playing with- plus chits. They were gambling, and the smirk on Jack's face told me he was winning. When Triton and I stood by the table to watch the game, Jack winked at me. "Your brother is full luck." Lady Amphitrite stated and I shook my head, "No, he is just full of tricks." I smiled and Jack glared at me, "I am being complemented by a lady, and you bring me down." He said dramatically making me nudge his cheek.

Triton and I took a seat, "Do you wish to play?" Uncle Poseidon asked and I nodded, "I'll play after this round." I said because I wanted to observe everybody first, "I'll play now." Triton said and Tyson rubbed his fingers together referring to money, Triton made a sack appear in his hands and he held it upsidedown making all the golden drachmas fall out.

He arranged them then pushed five rows to the front, "First bet." He said and everybody began pushing their rows of coins to the front, they distributed the chits and cards and lady Amphitrite was the first to roll the dice. The game began and everybody had fun, in the end it was obvious who won, Jack. After they were done, I entered the game, the only problem was that I was legit broke. "My lovely brother Jack..." I began but he stopped me mid way, "You are going to pay it back with 100% interest. Deal?" Jack questioned and I knew he was not going to go lower- it was a take it or leave situation.

"Deal." I said and Jack handed me a sack, Triton laughed and he had an amused look, "Couldn't you have opted for him to reduce the interest price?" He asked and I shook my head, "It's nonnegotiable, if Jack gives you a price, don't bother trying to have him reduce it cause he won't budge. If you have bad luck, he might increase the interest price." I said and the people on the table nodded their heads impressed.

The game began and everybody was handed their cards, I frowned at my cards, "Bad cards?" Triton questioned and I just gave a quick smile to look nice.

I definitely did not have bad cards. Rule number one when you play cards or when you gamble, never ever look happy when you get great cards, look depressed for the whole game like you are going to lose...

...One hour later...

"I really wished you would win daughter in-law." Uncle Poseidon said as he placed his cards on the table to reveal them thinking he had won, but Triton placed his on the table showing that he had won his father, then it was lady Amphitrite, then Tyson then Jack placed his on the table with a smirk and collected everybody's money. After he had taken all of it I placed mine on the table, "Thank you brother." I said as I took the load of coins.

"Well father in-law, looks like your wish came true." I said happily, "What are you going to do with all that money dear?" Lady Amphitrite asked and I did not even had to think of the answer, "I am going shopping at the Atlantis shopping mall, I am getting myself so many limited addition dresses!" I cheered as I packed all my money in a bag.

Jack cleared his throat and I took a sack out of the bag and handed it to him, "There's the loan I took with 100% interest plus a tip." I said, "I'll accompany you dear." Lady Amphitrite said, "It will be an honor." I smiled, she disappeared then reappeared with two handbags, "Well you certainly weren't planning on going to the mall with a sack, were you?" She questioned.

"Oh no, I would have made a plan." I smiled, "Oh yeah, and what plan would that be?" Triton questioned, "To ask lady Amphitrite for a bag." I answered making everybody laugh, I placed all the money in the bag, it was very heavy, but I could handle it, I winked at Jack and he snorted and I slightly laughed.

"Shall we?" Lady Amphitrite asked and I nodded and let her lead the way, when we reached the palace doors two mermaids walked behind us, "These are maidens, Tyrah and Myrah- twins." Lady Amphitrite introduced them and I smiled at them, "They belong to prestigious families, they have become great friends of this palace, they have become great friends with Triton. They come to help me around the palace a lot." The queen smiled.
