CHAPTER 42: Waking up

Jack POV

It had now been one month and two days, she still had not woken up. I could have used telepathy to get into her head and encourage her to wake up, but I did not want to rush anything. We were all seated having a conversation talking about random stuff. Percy and I noticed a shift from the corner of our eyes and looked at Nattie. Her fingers were moving again, but this time her eyelids were were moving too. She was taking deeper breaths from her oxygen mask.

Everybody in the room neared towards her and then finally her eyes fluttered open, her iris was darker than ever. She noticed all the faces around her and rotated her eyes observing them. "Sister in-law!" Tyson exclaimed as he pulled her into a hug and she winced in pain, "Tyson calm down, she is a bit fragile dear." Amphitrite said, "So sorry, oh I missed you so much! You gave us all a big fright. We have so much to discuss!" Tyson talked nonstop and Nattie just smiled at him.

"How are you?" Poseidon and Amphitrite asked in unison and she nodded with a smile. "How do you feel? How many fingers am I holding? Do you know who I am?" Triton asked and Nattie raised a brow and smiled a little bit then she looked at Percy and I and removed her gas mask. She made a sad expression and held both her earlobes, "Sorry." She pouted and a tear dropped from her right eye. Percy wiped her tear away and cupped her cheek. He smiled warmly at her and they locked eyes, Triton came out of nowhere and pulled Percy away and we all looked at him, "I had to separate them before it got intense." Triton said changing his voice at the word 'intense'. Percy shoved him aside and looked innocent.

He probably had not told Nattie that Triton was referring to what the dolphin had called Percy- an intense kisser. I noticed Nattie's gaze on me, "Say something, do something, scream at me, shout at me, twitch, blink, something!" She begged, "How about a smack?" I questioned, "Thank you for finally speaking but that is not going to happen." She said and I smiled at her, "You can smack me when I have the strength to smack you back." She smiled. "Princess, you are finally awake." Apollo said as he appeared, "Lo- Apollo." She smiled, "Thank you, now I feel young, hot and free again." Apollo smiled.

He made a silver stick appeared in his hands and Nattie looked at him, "What are you going to do with that?" She asked cautiously, Apollo ignored her and poked her on her ribs without removing the sheet. "Ouch. What was that for?" Nattie questioned, she seemed to be keeping her voice at monotone. "Why are you keeping your voice so low?" I asked and Apollo poked her again, "Would you please stop poking me, I am not a dead thing." She whined, Apollo did not listen and poked her again, "Oww." She cried.

"That is because if she shouts or says anything too loud, it will be painful- even breathing is slightly painful for her at the moment, am I right?" He asked Nattie and she just looked at him, "Thank you Apollo, for saving my life yet again. And I am thankful to those that helped you." She smiled, "You weird, I was expecting you to lose your cool, your were just crying a few seconds ago and now you are thanking me." Apollo said as he took her wrist and removed a tube from her vein. "I need you to hold your breath." Apollo said and Nattie did as she was told.

Apollo out of nowhere poked he again, "Sorry, I was just checking how fragile you are, and I was also testing you patience." He merely stated, "Try and sit up, you have been lying for a month now." Apollo said, "I can't." She simply said and my eyes widened, normally when a person says that they have been paralyzed.

"Why not?" Apollo asked, "It's too painful." She said, "What is a brother, lover, brother in-laws, an uncle and an aunt for if they can't help." Apollo asked as he made an injection appear in his hands. Nattie froze and looked at it, "Who is that for?" She asked in a shaky voice, "Who is the patient in this room?" Apollo asked and she just looked at him unblinkingly, "May I?" He asked, "No." Nattie said bluntly and darkly, "I have to." Apollo pushed, "You can do it when I am asleep." She said, "But you are going to be in more pain for the time being." He said.
