Over the next two days, I found myself having to comfort Sombra a lot even though he denied it. The stallion had peculiar mood swings, where he either was too quiet, or was simply talking nonsense, which was unusual for him. After I'd question him about it, he would brush me off saying that I was imagining things.Eventually I found myself galloping quickly down the castle corridors. The guards watched me curiously as I zoomed past them, hurrying. I came to a sudden halt after almost crashing into Sombra.
"Oh hey." I said breathlessly. The stallion watched me as though I was out of my mind.
"I thought galloping was an outside sport." He commented calmly, with a hint of sarcasm, but I knew this was not the time for jokes.
"Sombra. Celestia and Luna will arrive here in thirty minutes." I warned. Sombra looked as though somepony had put ice cubes down his back.
"Thirty minutes? I thought they were meant to arrive in the evening." He complained.
"Well they're not." I said awkwardly . Sombra fell silent for a moments as though he was considering a few things.
"Fine. I will be at waiting for them in about twenty five minutes time." He said with a hint of disgust. It was so very clear, that he still detested Celestia and Luna, but he wanted to be a good King therefore his feelings had to be put aside.
I used the last thirty minutes to prepare, and make myself look especially presentable. After all, I was about to attend a meeting with three alicorns... and who was I? Oh yeah, nopony basically.
After scanning all my clothes a couple of times, I finally decided to wear [AnyColour] dress, which looked absolutely perfect to the new Mane-style I made. It was a messy bun, which was much different to my usual Mane-style, and especially looked well with the dress I decided upon.
Soon I left my room feeling fully prepared for the meeting, however I could not help noticing there were a few more guards around, than usual. It was clearly Sombras doing.
Eventually, I joined Sombra outside, as he was going to the Empire gates where the princesses were supposed to arrive. His face was stone cold, and he didn't even look at me when I joined him.
"Just show a bit of respect and everything will be fine." I comforted the stallion. He looked sideways at me and frowned.
"You do not understand what it is like to be defeated and lose everything you ever had for a thousand long years." He spoke coldly.
"You're right, I do not. However I can help you through it though, can't I?" I asked.
"Well yeah." He mumbled, and I nodded. At that precise moment, we arrived at the end of the Empire, and in the distance I noticed three golden chariots.
The chariots were pulled by pegasi guards, two of the chariots contained unicorn guards, and one was occupied by two ponies I havent seen for a very long time. It was an unusual feeling, meeting the princesses in the company of an ex-tyrant, and one of their greatest enemies.
Sombra clearly didn't like all the guards accompanying the princesses, but he could do nothing about it. Two days ago he agreed to their request about bringing the guards for safety precautions.
The chariots eventually landed, and I immediately noticed that Luna and Celestia looked worried, and surprised. They clearly mustve believed this was a trap.
Sombra and I travelled to where they landed, Sombras face was emotionless which kind of freaked me out. The princesses were helped off the chariot by their guards, and finally all of us stood there. Two princesses, and a king who were enemies, and an ex-subject who was a simple pony. It was honestly the strangest combination ever.
