Chapter 40 - All secrets revealed.

The next week spent living with Stello in the middle of nowhere went by very slowly. I was cautious of any of his actions, maybe I was even a bit paranoid about him, but he simply made sure we had something to eat and tried to show me some survival skills like how to tie rope or make fire using flint and a rock. It was actually pretty fun.

One windy day, Stello and I were sitting in his house. I sat on the chair whilst he was laying down on his bed. The wind rattled the weak windows and whistled in the hinges, but I ignored that, and started to ask Stello questions.

"Tell me more about your past, and Sombra. I want to know more about him, Stello." I asked. Stello groaned and stretched his legs.

"You're too obsessed with that Stallion, he's probably doing dark rituals now and is heavily into dark magic now, there's no point lingering." Stello complained. I scoffed in reply.

"Maybe so, but you don't actually know that. Plus, even if Sombra is into dark magic again now then I can always go back and reform him again, and even if that doesn't work, I still want to know more about the stallion I'm married to." I explained. Stello sighed as he knew I wouldn't give up and made a good point anyway.

"There is not much to say [YN]. Both our parents were Alicorns but they died when Sombra and I were still young. It was because of some plague that killed thousands of ponies then, and it disappeared as fast it appeared." Stello frowned. He clearly still couldn't figure out what it was.

"And what happened after?"  I wondered. Stello sighed and started to answer.

"Well, Sombra and I started to travel. We came upon the crystal Empire and Equestria which was still very small. The sun and the moon princesses recognised us as Alicorns, and offered tuition to help us learn more about our abilities. They also sent us to the Crystal Empire which was where Sombra met Anya and I met Trinity."

"So where was Starswirl the Bearded in all of that?" I asked.

Stello looked at me. He was surprised to hear that name.

"How do you know Starswirl? He lived a thousand years ago." Stello wondered.

"Hes the most famous unicorn of all time, and Sombra did say that Starswirl was his mentor." I explained. Stello nodded.

"Ah. Yeah, Starswirl did mentor us for some time, until he tracelessly disappeared one day." Stello explained. "We moved to the Empire after Starswirls disappearance."

"Makes sense. What about Luna?" I asked. Stello sighed and shook his head.

"I don't know much. I knew there was something going on between Sombra and her, but I had no idea they were plotting to take over the world by submitting to the Dark Lord." The Alicorn pointed out.

It all seemed very mysterious. There were so many things left unexplained, like why did Luna help Celestia fight Sombra later when he became a tyrant, and couldn't she have just used Sombra to kill Celestia? Or where did that Dark Lord come from?

* One day later *

The next day, I told Stello that I will be leaving to go to The Crystal Empire. At first he called me crazy, but I told him that dark magic or not, Sombra would not hurt me. Reluctantly, Stello agreed to accompany me on the trip.

As we started the journey, Stello put his cloak on and looked back at his hut, and I could see a lot of concern in his expression. Unfortunately we couldn't fly because my wing was still too hurt to use, so we had to walk the entire way. Stello did offer to carry me on his back while he flies, but I denied the offer.
