A few days later.Sombra and I talked a lot about our wedding. Afterall, this would have been like the first Royal wedding in The Crystal Empire in like a whole millennium.
I noticed that Sombra had ideas of his own, and I had different ones. He did kind of grow up in a completly different place and time to me, which explained the differences. Therfore we struggled to agree on something.
We were just sitting down in the garden, just below a crystal pear tree. I was listening to the ideas Sombra had in mind, and I did not like how he insisted upon 'Traditional'.
"By hosting this wedding in a traditional Crystal Ceremony, following with a soirée and a lavish banquet, it will allow our subjects to understand how much we respect their traditions. You know well, that they were also gone for a thousand year-"
"But we don't need to make it traditional. They will definitely enjoy something new." I interrupted the gray stallion. He frowned. "What is that soirée anyway?" I asked.
"Soirée. A party, basically." He rolled his eyes as though this was obvious. Both traditional, and modern weddings consisted of a ceremony and a party, so why didn't he want to agree upon the modern one. I remembered how beautiful Cadences wedding was.
"Well then we can-"
"No we cannot."He interrupted. I glared at him. "Listen, [YN]. We already changed the name of the biggest ceremony here, I would prefer to maintain at least a portion of the traditions and values."
"But I've told you so many times, these days ponies value justice, and by hosting a party just for the noble ponies, you would show that you don't care about the lesser ones." I argued confidently. Sombra sighed before replying.
"But I do, this is just how traditional works." He muttered.
I humphed and looked away angrily. He did not understand that he was gone for a thousand years, and things were now so much different, than back when he was still a colt.
"[YN]." Sombra said softly. I turned my head slowly to look at him. His expression was calm and concerned. "How about we get advice from somepony else, hm?" He smiled weakly. I looked down at the grass, and then back up at him. He was really cute and I failed to resist a smile too.
"Thats okay, Sombra." I said.
We then spent some time wondering who could possibly be the perfect pony to help us. After mentioning about a hundred ponies, Sombra and I finally agreed on asking Zecora for help. She would definitely not be biased, and definitely clever enough to resolve our issue.
The next problem was, how we would have to contact her. Since this is a royal wedding, it would have been best if we spoke to her personally, instead of by mail, however it meant that either she would have to travel here, or Sombra and I would have to go to Equestria.
Sombra raised his eyebrow, and then frowned. He was unhappy about the thought of leaving the Empire, however I explained to him that Zecora is unlikely to leave her home.
"Its royal business, she ought come here."Sombra pointed out. I put a hoof to my forehead.
"Sombra. She is not your subject, and she doesn't usually leave her home anyway. It would be greedy of us to call her here just to ask about our wedding." I corrected. Sombra humphed in reply.
"But the Empire cannot stay unattended." The stallion mumbled. He did have a good point to worry about the Empire.
"Well then I can stay, and you can talk to her yourself if you'd like." I suggested with a faint smile. Sombra was silent for a moment, before replying bluntly.
