Chapter 1 - I'm coming too!

[To clarify, this book is set just before season 3 episode 1 of MLP:FiM therefore Twilight is still a unicorn]

I always wanted to join my friends on the great adventures that Princess Celestia sent them to. They always returned successful, after facing multiple challenges and evil foes. They were the horsefamous heroes, known all across Equestria. They were the elements, the friendship-power-wielding mares that everypony loved and adored.

Me? Funny story. Despite being their close friend, I never had the opportunity to join their quests. I stayed behind and watched their glory from the side. Fame wasn't my truest desire anyway. I simply always wanted to feel that rush of adrenaline and chills when something exciting was going on. All because I spent the last decade living in Ponyville, a place where 'exciting news' was someone losing their pet. Rather boring if you ask me.

Either way, I didn't mind being left behind too much. They were the only friends I had, the six colorful mares, always cheerful and friendly. I loved each one of them to bits. I spent most of my free time with the blue mare known as Rainbow Dash. We often raced from cloud to cloud and competed in random challenges, which Dash usually won. She was a legend, and an awesome flier!

I was also kind of a nerd, and I spent a lot of time with the purple unicorn called Twilight Sparkle. We both enjoyed studying different things, and I often helped her try out new spells or sort out her Golden Oak library.

In addition, there was also Pinkie Pie, Rarity, Apple Jack and Flutter Shy. They were all my friends, and they were all very dear to me. The other ponies in Ponyville? They never were friendly to me. For many reasons...

Then there was me. The troublemaker. Tag along. Odd one out. I often felt useless and left out. Being left behind as my friends went on missions usually wasn't so bad, but what truly made me feel neglected was the other ponies in Ponyville. Being unable to interact normally with the majority of a town was often difficult, but my friends were always there trying to help me through it.

One very special day, I found myself trotting down a path with Twilight at my side. It was my nineteenth birthday, and she was escorting me to Sugarcube corner for a party, which naturally, was hosted by Pinkie Pie.

The sun was high up in the sky, beaming down at us with its pleasantly heated sunshine. I enjoyed how gently it warmed up my [CC] coat. There was hardly any wind which made the air feel a dry and dense. In the distance, heard the common chatter of ponies in the market nearby.

Twilight smiled at me as she trotted calmly. She looked at me with a curious gaze. "[YN], have you tried making friends with the other ponies in Ponyville like I asked you to?" She wondered in a caring tone.

I sighed and slowly nodded. "Of course I have Twilight. Nopony wants to be friends with me though, I literally destroy the unbreakable." I complained as we just passed Rarities boutique, but Rarity wasn't there.

Twilight gave me a concerned look. She tried many times to give me tips and lessons on how to make friends, but they have never seemed to work.

Sometimes I wondered if the ponies in Ponyville still held a grudge on me for the one time I accidentally fell onto a cake made by Pinkie, Mr and Mrs cake. It was a cake made for the competition known as Cake XXL, which ultimately was a battle of who can bake the biggest cake. Ponyville was sure to win since our cake was at least the height of three Celestia's, but I ruined everything before the jury's arrived.
