I smiled at Ryoma, trying to give some of my happiness to him. I really wanted to see him smile, so I could feel like that he wouldn’t want to commit suicide again. He smiled back at me with a big grin. It was so funny, the way his face looked. I swear that I was going to laugh so hard I was going to end up rolling into or off the side of the volcano.
Ryoma finally came to his senses and we went back to the shelter. When we got back, we went to get lunch. I got some extra fish and roots since we didn’t have any breakfast.
The days went on, a couple weeks actually. Everything seemed quiet, and boring. Every day was the same thing. Getting up, catching and eating breakfast, then lunch, then dinner, and then bed. Some of the things we did in between our meals varied a bit, but still seemed pretty much similar.
Why can’t something interesting happen?! Everything just feels so boring. I don’t know why, but I feel like that none of us have smiled for a while. I just wish that either something really fun would happen right now or that Katherine would come for us soon. I emailed Katherine asking her about the progress she made trying to find us. I waited, and then got a message saying, “I’ve found someone from school who’s really smart and has been coming over lately to help. You so owe me because my mom thinks he’s my boyfriend and seems really pissed about it. His name is Eric, and sometimes he calls himself Steve Birdwin.”
“Okay, I’ll pay you back AFTER you come and rescue me and the guys, plus Rick.”
“Good, also, how are those guys doing?”
“Well, I’ll tell you when I see you in person.”
“Ah come on, don’t make me wait!”
“Sorry, but that’ll be your inspiration to come and save us.”
“Okay, fine. I’ll hurry up and save your sorry butt.”
“Good, good night.”
“Night, even though it’s only 6 o’clock here.”
Katherine stopped the emails, and I went to bed. I wished that something fun would happen. I just wanted one last adventure before we were rescued. I guess that was too much to ask for, considering after everything that has happened. Who knows, I might get lucky.
The next morning, the same morning routine took place, like always. I felt kind of depressed going through the same cycle every single day. I got so bored with it, and then thought maybe Rick could cheer me up. I grabbed Rick, turned him on, and then heard him screaming, “You people need to stop putting me on sleep mode!!! I’ve been asleep for how long now?!?! The least you could do is leave me on so I could be included in these strange events you’re going through.”
“It’s nice to see you too Rick.”
“Sorry Sakura, I’m just upset at those two boys. I think they turned me off so I wouldn’t get in their way of getting close to you.”
“Don’t worry Rick. Once we get back to the mainland, I’ll take you back to the agency and you can be turned into a more… appealing… form.”
“Alright then, so why did you turn me on?”
“I feel so bored. Every day is just starting to become almost the same exact thing.”
“Well, I can use my bazooka to give us some entertainment.”
“Didn’t you say that your bazooka could destroy the island?”
“Oops, I forgot. Never mind. Well, would you like to take a walk with me?”
“Sure, why not.”
Rick and I went for a walk, which made things different since Rick was back in the picture. We walked around, being completely silent. Rick finally said something to break the awkwardness.
“So what form should I take on when we get back to the mainland?”
“Well, since my family is dead, maybe it might be smart if you were like an older brother or a parent.”
“Alright, that sounds like a good idea.”
We talked about what our plans for when we got back to the mainland. I would be in high school probably by the time we got back. What sucked was that the guys and I would have to go our separate ways when we got back. I just wish that we would all be able to stay together when we got back, but that wasn’t going to happen.
