The Mysterious Island of Lost Treasures

Chapter 43

The morning came, and I told the guys I was going to go to the hot spring, and then going for a walk. I seriously needed to go in the hot spring though. It’s felt like forever since I was able to enjoy it. Once I finished my bath, I left to go to the mysterious tree. Once I got to the tree, I saw something.

It seemed like there was an apple that just grew in about twenty seconds. I took the apple, and what was weird about it is that it was like a clear white color. I didn’t know what was up with the color, but it still looked really good. When I took a bite of the apple, I felt like I was in heaven. It tasted so perfectly sweet and wasn’t soft at all. It was like eating an apple from Eden. It was just so amazing. After I finished the apple, I felt kind of weird. I didn’t know what was going on, but I felt something really soft on my back.

When I looked behind me, I realized I had a tail, and then I felt my head, and realized I had ears! I was thinking this is so EPIC!!! I’ve always wanted a wolf tail and ears, and now I have it!!! This is so cool! I have to go show the guys! I ran back to the shelter, and I felt like I was running faster than ever before. I guess I didn’t just get the ears and tail of a wolf, but also the speed of one. Hopefully the stamina too...

When I got back to the shelter, I screamed, “Guys! Look what happened to me!!!”

The guys stared at me, and then seemed shocked when they saw the ears, not to mention the tail.

“So, the princess is now… part wolf?”

“Yep! Isn’t it so cool?!”

“Well, how did this happen?”

“Well, I went to the weird tree we found Kyo under and saw a weird apple grow on it. It was all white, but it still tasted amazing. Once I ate it, I got the tail, ears, speed, and agility of a wolf!”

“Wow, I wonder what would happen if we tried to eat that fruit? You want to try it Kyo? I mean, it wouldn’t kill you.”

“Yeah sure, why not? It could be fun.”

“Wait, before we go, Sakura, can you make the tail and ears disappear?”

“I don’t know, let me try.”

I thought of changing back into my normal human, not mutant self, and realized that I could have the tail and ears whenever I wanted. I thought this was way too awesome to be true. If this was a dream, I would be so pissed off.

“Okay, so it’s optional to show it, but Sakura, do you have any new tattoos or markings?”

“I don’t think so, try checking my lower back. That’s where the tail comes out.”

I pulled up my shirt, and there was a really weird looking mark. It looked a little bbit like a flame

“Alright, so let’s go see what happens to us.”

Kyo, Ryoma, and I all went to the tree, and I showed the guys the fruit. Ryoma walked up to the tree and a purplish apple grew. What was interesting was the apple changed to black in the shade. Ryoma stared at me, as if he was confused about what to do.

“Just eat the whole apple, and then you’ll get awesome animal powers!”

“Alright.”

Ryoma ate the entire apple, and then I saw something on his back. It looked like wings were growing out of his back, and he looked like an angel of darkness.

“I guess I’m a raven or something. That’s cool, so now I can fly!”

“Yeah, and if we see a plane and we miss it, you can fly up there and stop it!”

“I don’t think it works like that, but we can always try it.”

Ryoma pulled his wings in, and now it was Kyo’s turn. When he walked up, an orange apple grew. What was cool about it is that there were marks of red swirling around it.

“Okay, so the animal I become will just match my hair and eye color, well, I guess that’s cool.”

“Yeah, by the way Ryoma, did you happen to get a mark too?”

“I think I did, it would probably be where the wings grew out, want to check?”

“Okay.”

Ryoma took his shirt off, and he had two marks, one for each place where the wings grew.

“Yeah, you got two marks, one for each wing.”

“Okay, that’s cool and easy to hide.”

Kyo finished his apple, and he grew ears, claws, and a tail that looked like a wildcat’s.

“So you got wild cat, cool! I wonder if I can grow claws too.”

I released the tail and ears, and I was able to get some claws to come out. They weren’t the biggest, but they were pretty sharp.

“Cool! Okay, so I got wolf, Ryoma got Raven, and Kyo got wildcat. So now we all have awesome animal powers!”

“Yep, but I’m pretty much a cat, what’s so great about that?”

“Well, you’re a wild cat, which can be vicious, like... you! When you’re mad!”

Kyo glared at me, and his red eyes made it even creepier, yet I still loved them.

“We-well, you can… you can… run even faster! And now you have the agility of a wildcat!”

“Well, I guess that’s convinient. So it’s not a complete waste.”

“Yep! So where is your mark?”

“Um, I don’t think it’s where my tail is, and it wouldn’t be where my ears are…”

“Look at your arm.”

Kyo looked at his arm, and there was a weird mark spiraling around his arm.

“Cool, this looks like a gang thing though. I don’t think it’s very safe for me when I get back to the city because I have no family, and now I have a tattoo that makes it look like I belong to a gang.”

“Ah, who cares right now? Let’s have some fun with these powers!”

I started to run around the island, jumping over high objects and scratching trees. Kyo ran around the island with me, but instead of jumping over stuff, he was jumping into trees to see if he could find any fruit or birds. Ryoma was just flying high above us, taking a look of the island with his new eye in the sky. I thought this was so cool, and that since we had animal powers, our lives were going to change.
