Chapter 53

“Hey, did you have a bad dream?”

“No, why do you ask?”

“Because you have a tear in your eye and you kept saying no in your sleep.”

I felt my face, finding the tear that Kyo was talking about. I was about to wipe it away, but Kyo came up and did it for me. It seemed romantic, and thankfully Ryoma had to leave to go get some water from the stream. Kyo came up and whispered to me, “You know that if you’re ever in danger, I’ll be there to save you.” After he said that, he kissed me.

After we finished, Ryoma came back with the water.

“Sakura, you woke up. Why did you doze off like that?”

“I’m not sure. I guess I was just kind of tired, but I feel better now.”

“Alright, I got some water if anyone is thirsty.”

We finished up dinner and went to bed. I slept easily, but was still worried about Ryoma. He still seems depressed, but he’s starting to get happier each day. I just wished that he would just get over it and act like nothing happened.

I woke up during the middle of the night and saw Ryoma was gone.

“Kyo! Wake up! Ryoma’s gone!”

“What, what are you talking about?”

“I mean he isn’t here you idiot! C’mon, we got to go find him!”

We ran around the island, trying to find Ryoma. I guess I had a lot of energy from my nap I had earlier. Kyo seemed pretty out of it, which I should’ve expected considering what time it was.

We searched the island, not having any luck. We even searched the areas we didn’t know about. I thought of the one place that we didn’t search, and Kyo asked me, “Is there someplace we haven’t searched?”

“Yeah, and I bet Ryoma went there thinking that it would be so easy for him to hide up there.”

“Where then?!”

“At the top of the volcano.”

“Wait, the volcano?!”

“Yeah, let’s get going. If we don’t hurry, something bad might happen.”

We hurried to the top of the volcano, running out of breath because of the low amount of air. Oh god Ryoma, please don’t do anything stupid. I don’t want you to die, but why did you run away you idiot?! Please wait and don’t do anything to kill yourself.

We finally made it to the top, and I saw Ryoma behind some mist.

“Ryoma! Thank god you’re still alive! What were you thinking!?”

When I got a little bit closer to Ryoma, I heard crying.

“Ryoma, are you okay?”

“Sakura, I need to speak to you alone.” I could hear him trying to stop the crying just to say that. I looked at Kyo, and he got the message and went a little bit down the side of the volcano.

“Alright Ryoma, why are you crying?”

When I said that, Ryoma fell to his knees.

“Ryoma! Are you okay!?”

“I can’t take it anymore! I’m going to jump into this volcano and never have to do this again!”

“Ryoma?! What they hell is going on in your mind?! Are you crazy?! If you commit suicide, you’ll just end up suffering in hell!”

“It’s better than watching you and Kyo enjoying your lives together! I’m all alone and no one might ever come save us!”

“Ryoma, I don’t want to be too serious with Kyo right now. I just want to be friends with you and him for now. If you die, I’ll be so upset. Plus, you have so much life ahead of you. Please, for me, don’t do anything stupid.”

Ryoma seemed to calm down a little, but he was still pretty upset.

“Fine, I won’t jump, but someone better rescue us soon.”

“I know someone will come for us. I was able to email my friend back at home, and she said she would try to track the phone I have right now, or get someone to do it for her.”

“Okay, so someone will be coming for us.”

“Uh huh! So please stay with us, and I promise I will do everything in my power to keep things in the friend zone.”

“Okay then, I guess that’ll work, but what do you think I’ll accomplish in my life?”

“Well, you’re a great musician, and plus there are plenty of fish in the sea.”

“Well, okay then. I’ll stay alive to accomplish all those things, but I’m still going to write a special song about you when I’m famous.”

“Well then, I’ll be looking forward to that day when I hear that song!”
