It was a cool September morning in Nashville, Tennessee. Everyone was going about their day like life was normal, but it wasn't.
The apocalypse had begun. Demons were everywhere, every day a new sign or omen popped up on the hunter radar.
Today the river water in River Pass, Colorado became polluted in the blink of an eye. Melissa Leventi had been keeping an eye out for this omen in particular.
Melissa's psychic friend, Kristen, visited a couple of months ago to warn her about this omen. Now that it happened, it was time to pack up and go.
With a shaky breath, the Leventi knocked on her older daughter's door. "Maia, honey, get up we have a case."
"Five more minutes." The tired girl mumbled.
Melissa rolled her eyes, opening the door. "I said," she pulled the covers off of Maia, "get up."
"How do you expect me to help you on a hunt when I'm not well rested?" Maia asked, sitting up.
Melissa chuckled. "You are just like your father."
"How so?" Maia looked up at her mother with interest. Her mom rarely ever talked about her dad anymore.
"Well for starters he wasn't a morning person either." The Leventi smiled, "and he had the most beautiful green eyes, just like you, and he had freckles splattered all over his face, and he was the most sarcastic person you could ever meet just like-"
"Me." Maia cut her off.
"Exactly."
"I wish I had the chance to meet him." The younger blonde sighed. According to her mom, her dad died before she was born. The only things she knew about him were the little details that Melissa would share every now and then.
"Me too May, me too." Her mother patted her knee, "Now go get dressed and packed. I'm gonna go wake up your sister."
"Ugh." Maia fell back on her bed dramatically, she was not a morning person.
"Just like your father." Melissa rolled her eyes.
After her mom left, Maia reluctantly slid out of bed. She made her way to her dresser taking some clothes out to put in her duffel before picking out her outfit. She chose a simple black tank top, a flannel, skinny jeans, and her combat boots.
"Hey," Melissa knocked on Maia's doorframe, "Can you watch Sophie for a bit? I have an emergency situation at the label."
"Of course Mom. I got her."
"Have I ever told you that you are the best daughter in the whole world?"
"Yes, but you should still say it anyways. I love a good compliment."
"I love you, Maia." Melissa gave her daughter a hug.
"Love you too Mom."

It didn't take long for Melissa to fix the problem at her record label. She only had a few papers to sign that confirmed that the business would go to Maia on her eighteenth birthday.
When she got home, the Leventi was shocked to see that Maia packed up everyone's belongings and was doing weapons check.
"Where's the fire?" Melissa jokingly asked her daughter.
"Polluted river actually and it's in River Pass, Colorado." Maia played along.
"You didn't have to do all of this by yourself."
"I kinda did because the faster we get going, the faster we'll get this case done which means that I won't miss my volleyball game next week."
"Since when do you care so much about making it to the games?"
"Since we made it to the semifinals for the first time in decades."
"Fair point," Melissa chuckled. "Alright then I'll start loading the car and I'm gonna need you to go through all the rooms to make sure we didn't forget anything."
"Yes, ma'am." Maia walked off to check the rooms.
The young blonde checked upstairs first, finding nothing that they forgot to grab. Back downstairs in the living room, however, Maia found her anti-possession necklace on the end table.
Slipping the piece of jewelry over her head, Maia heard her mom honking. With a sigh, the demigod glanced around her home. Unbeknownst to her, it was the last time she would be here for a long time.
