Maia slammed her hands on the table, muttering curses in ancient Greek under her breath. She grabbed another map from her messenger bag, dipped a patch in a glass of her blood and lit it. She recited a spell that she now had memorized, dropping the match onto the map. The map caught fire. The flames encircled it, enveloping the map and turning it to ash.

"Son of a bitch!" Maia yelled. She stomped her foot, accidentally starting another fire with her powers.

"Hey, whoa, whoa!" Sam ran into the kitchen where Maia stood in front of a burning table. He quickly grabbed a fire extinguisher, spraying the fire until it dissipated. "What the hell was that?"

"Another spell gone wrong," Maia grumbled, wiping the ash into a trashcan. "My powers are growing."

"I can see that." Sam sassed. "But why?"

"I don't know maybe it's because I've been using magic twenty-four-seven the past few days or it could just be the ever closer date!" Maia shouted. It had been three days since Dean just took off, leaving her and Sam stranded in the town of their last hunt.

"What do you mean by 'date'? Sam asked, using finger quotes around the word in question.

"Nothing." Maia shook her head. She didn't feel like explaining to Sam that her birthday was a day away and that her life was about to be completely turned upside down. "As long as Dean keeps moving, I can't track him." She changed the subject.

Sam sighed, running a hand over his face. "All right, well, just keep trying." He started to walk off to Bobby's study when he thought of something else. "Try not to burn the house down."

Maia nodded, focusing back on her work. She blocked out everything around her so that she could focus on the spell to find her dad.

"You're right, Bobby. She does seem off." Sam told the older hunter in a hushed tone. Just last night, Bobby had confronted the Winchester about his worry over Maia. "Do you think it's because Dean left?"

"I think that's part of it," Bobby stated as he watched Maia try her spell yet again.

"Well, what else could it be?" Sam questioned with a perplexed look.

Bobby started shuffling through his papers, searching for a note he had written per Dean's request. "This." Bobby held up a yellow sticky-note with three words and a number scrawled on it: April 15th- Maia's Bday.

Sam's eyes widened as realization dawned on him. "What day is it?"

"April thirteenth." Bobby shook his head at the situation. "The poor girl doesn't have her mom and then her dad up and leaves to go be an angel's bitch."

"No wonder she's been on edge." Sam sighed. "Hold on, she mentioned something about her powers growing because of a date. Do you know what she meant?"

"No. But I can find out." Bobby promised, already looking for books to start his research with.

A crashing noise grabbed Bobby and Sam's attention. They both whipped their heads towards the kitchen where Maia now lay unconscious on the floor.

"Maia!" Sam called, rushing to her. She had blood dripping from her nose and her pulse was weak but it was there. "She's still breathing." Sam sighed in relief. He picked her up, carrying her over to the cot in Bobby's study.

Maia didn't wake up until the next night. She groaned as she sat up, rubbing her temples. "Ow."

"Here." Bobby tossed her a bottle of aspirin while Sam went to get her a glass of water.

"Thanks," Maia mumbled. "How long was I out?"
