After Peter leaves, I decide to talk to Flash. I walk over to him, finding him playing Candy Crush. "You seriously need to get a life!" I tell him.
"Says the queen of Frozen Free Fall!" Flash remarks.
"Hey, that game actually did something meaningful in my life, like stoping a bomb," I protest.
"Well maybe I'll come across a candy covered bomb one day," Flash suggests.
We laugh.
"Ugh I hate these levels!" Flash exclaims. He's talking about the ones where you have to bring the fruits down. "Gwen, can you help me bring this cherry down?" Without complaining, I help him. I mean I have nothing else to do so why not?
As we're looking at the screen, deciding which candy to move, Flash speaks up. "Can you say cherry?
"Um cherry?"
"Not um cherry! Just cherry."
"Cherry."
"Cherry," he repeats. "Cherry." Why is he doing this? "You're supposed to say cherry again!"
"Flash, are you okay?" I ask.
"NOT UNTIL YOU SAY IT!"
"Okay, okay, cherry. There, I said it. You happy now?"
"Very," he says satisfied.
"Flash, what's wrong with you?"
"Did that sound right?" he avoids my question.
"Did what sound right?" I ask.
"When we said cherry to each other twice."
"Sure?"
"Look, I just wanted to have a romantic word with my girlfriend, like you and Peter do," Flash admits.
I burst into laugher. "Flash, cherry is just cherry. There's nothing romantic about a fruit that you always complain about bringing down on Candy Crush. You have to think deeper! Something that's like an agreement word, a promise, just a special word that has meaning to you and your girlfriend."
"Oh my goodness, you're right!" Flash says. "Cherry is not the right word. Thank you so much, Gwen! I know what it is now."
"No problem, and what is it?"
"No homework."
"What?"
"Yeah, no homework. The perfect phrase! We both hate homework, which makes it our agreement, our promise, and our special word with meaning."
I don't even bother saying anything about this. I guess I'll never understand the many weirdnesses of Flash Thompson!
I take a glance around me to make sure Nick isn't in here. I need to find out what Flash knows about the medicine he got injected with. It has to be the one that cured me!
"Flash, what do you know about the medicine you were injected with?"
"Wait, you saw me get..."
"Yes, and I saw you running around the room like an idiot. There were cameras in the room, remember? That's how I knew about the bomb!"
"Oh yeah, duh!" Flash says.
"Well what do you know about it," I repeat and then add, "besides the weird side effect."
"Well I don't know what it's made of," Flash replies. "Peter asked Nick but he refused to tell us. He said it was top secret. The only thing he did say was that the shortest it can cure someone is in seconds and the longest is a month, depending on how bad the injury or illness is."
I knew it! I was in a coma for a month. This is the medicine that cured me.
"Flash, they used the same medicine on me," I tell him.
"Really? How do you know for sure?"
"I was in a coma for a month. Harry was after the medicine that cured me, and the one that cured you turned out to cure him too. Also....I had the same side effect as you..."
"Looks like I'm not the only idiot," Flash smirks.
"Shut up!" I roll my eyes.
"So, what did the side effect make you do?"
"Well basically the same thing. I just ran and jumped around everywhere, annoying the heck out of everyone, but it didn't last too long, after I..."
"I know, you don't have to say it," Flash interrupts, probably can tell I don't want to talk about it.
Basically, it wore off right after I found out that Peter thought I was dead and how it had to stay like that. That's what made me depressed. I didn't know how I was going to go on with life, knowing that the man I love thought I was dead. But I felt better when I would watch Peter on the news as Spider-Man, knowing that at least Peter still had hope, which gave me hope. Although, when I ran into Peter in London, I had a feeling things were going to change. And I was right. Well it looks like that. Peter has got to convince Nick to lay off. He has to!
"Anyways, I want to find out what's in the medicine," I say getting back on topic. "I mean, I think we have a right to know what they injected in our own bodies."
"I agree, but how?" he asks.
"I'll guess we'll have to wait till Peter comes back. I want him to back me up on this."
